Things qualifying/not qualifying under $300 annual travel credit
one member wrote: AA is now showing gift cards as "giftcard" rather than general purchase if the csr looks closely. Last year it worked for me, yesterday it did not and csr told me that's why. However, later the same day I also requested the credit by Secure Message (for "baggage fees) and it was approved. Very YMMV now but still doable. 2/10/2017

Southwest Airlines GCs work fairly easily. I've generally bought them for $150 and said they're excess baggage fees.

I have read that the $300 annual travel statement credit is calendar year but is that ruled strictly applied? I have a flight to book on Ryan Air for 12/28/19. I was thinking about doing only the airfare purchase now and after my statement cuts around December 15th, pay the checked bag fee, and in January 2020 call to make a claim. Anyone have experience with this? Thanks.

Should reset after your December statement, not Jan 1st.

I haven't been paying close enough attention to Priority Pass in the past, mostly because it was terrible in the states. Now, because of this, and a few other threads, I've discovered that PP does not suck in TPA. Mise En Place (Terminal F) is part of the PP food network. A credit of $28 per visit will most likely equate to a $1000 annual benefit.

Thanks FT !

Haven't seen much discussion on the $100 airfare discount lately so figured I'd share. Recently upgraded from Bonvoy Boundless card. Took about 1 day before I had access to visadiscountair.com. When I got access, I successfully booked 2 RT basic economy seats on AA for $96.60 each * 2 tickets minus $100 discount = $93.20 out of pocket. Have Citi AA card so most basic economy restrictions are negated. May or may not purchase seats upon checking in with the Ritz for reimbursement.

I called in and upgraded my Boundless to the Ritz-Carlton card yesterday and while on the phone I asked about this $300 credit and the agent confirmed after speaking to a supervisor that this is based on the calendar year and not the membership year. He told me I had a few months to spend it before it resets at the end of the year.

Now I'm not sure whether that reset is December 31st/January 1st or as another poster commented the reset takes place after your December statement closes. I asked the CSR at Chase this question and after ten minutes of hold and asking around he was still unsure. So to be on the safe side I'll assume it's after my December statement closes and make sure to use up the $300 before then.

Information about the Ritz Carlton card is still available here:

https://creditcards.chase.com/marrio...ravel_benefits

12 $300 Annual Travel Credit: To request a statement credit to apply towards qualifying airline incidental purchase(s) made with your Ritz-Carlton Credit Card, you must contact J.P. Morgan Priority Services at the number on the back of your Ritz-Carlton Credit Card within 4 billing cycles of the purchase date. Only the following types of non-ticket purchases qualify for this offer: airline lounge day pass, or towards a yearly lounge membership of your choice; airline seat upgrades; airline baggage fees; in-flight Internet/entertainment; in-flight meals. Purchases are when you, or an authorized user, use a Ritz-Carlton credit card to make purchases of products and services, minus returns or refunds. Buying products and services with your card, in most cases, will count as a purchase; however, the following types of transactions won’t count and won’t earn points: balance transfers, cash advances, travelers checks, foreign currency, money orders, wire transfers or similar cash-like transactions, lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, race track wagers or similar betting transactions, any checks that access your account, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, and fees of any kind, including an annual fee, if applicable. We do not determine whether merchants correctly identify and bill transactions as being of a certain type. However, we do reserve the right to determine which purchases qualify for statement credits. Statement credit will post to your account within 5-7 business days and will appear on your monthly credit card billing statement within 1-2 billing cycles. Qualifying purchases made by authorized users on your account are eligible for statement credits; however, only the obligor on the account, not authorized users, may request statement credits. Maximum statement credit accumulation for this offer is $300 per calendar year. Annual credit will be issued for the calendar year in which the transaction posts to your account. For example, if you pay baggage fees at the end of 2018, and the airline does not post the transaction until 2019, the cost of the baggage fees will be allocated towards your 2019 calendar year maximum of $300. Marriott Bonvoy is not responsible for offer fulfillment or the provision of or a failure to provide the stated benefits and services.

How long after getting the card does it take for the three club level upgrades to show in your Marriott account? I was just on the phone with Chase and the rep said she didn't know and would send a email to marketing and call me back on Tuesday or Wednesday. I figure someone can give me an answer much faster on here. Thanks.

It took less than one week for these club-level upgrade certificates shown up in my account.

Ritz Carlton Discount Air Benefit

If you and and a spouse are authorized users on the cards and have 2 children, does anyone know if you are able to make 2 separate bookings and save $100 each time?
The $100 discount benefit is available on bookings from 2 to 5 people.
