However, later the same day I also requested the credit by Secure Message (for "baggage fees) and it was approved. Very YMMV now but still doable. 2/10/2017
Southwest Airlines GCs work fairly easily. I've generally bought them for $150 and said they're excess baggage fees.

I hope you get a nice couple nights at a future Cat8. The merger has definitely been great for these Tier 4 certs considering all the really great RC properties like RC Kyoto were Tier 5, but are now bookable, along with the St. Regis and LC portfolios.

How long do I have to try recon on this card? I got my denial letter a couple weeks ago but applied in time... am I f'd or could I still recon?
Also, can you spend 75k by end of year to get PP? Or did it have to be by August 1st?

So I just crossed the 4k minimum spending today. How long does it take for the 2 X FN Cert to show up on Marriott side? Do I need to wait until next statement, or it will be posted within X days?

Are those considered the top choices for free night certificates? A major consideration for me is a non stop flight from home to destination, which unfortunately includes only Cancun (considering only tropical destinations). I'm thinking Ritz there right on the beach not too far from the airport actually, and assume it's comparably good to others Ritz's. Is something like St. Regis worth wasting a day for a flight to and from?

Data point: I was upgraded to Platinum Elite and I haven't even finished the $4000 spend to get the 2 free nights yet!
Another question: since I'm earning my two free nights after the merger, will they post automatically as free nights or will they post as points, and how many points?

My wife and I have stayed countless times at both the Ritz and the JW Marriott in Cancun. We actually prefer the JW. The Ritz is pretty nice but it is definitely not the "best" one. The JW, Ritz and Casa Magna (which recently changed it's name to the Marriott Cancun or something) are all right next to each other. They also share each others' amenities.

I'm pretty sure that CSR is incorrect. Marriott has stated that certificates will be able to book across the whole portfolio. I personally have not gotten mine yet though.
