However, later the same day I also requested the credit by Secure Message (for "baggage fees) and it was approved. Very YMMV now but still doable. 2/10/2017
Southwest Airlines GCs work fairly easily. I've generally bought them for $150 and said they're excess baggage fees.

Good catch on that PDF - there's a similar update for the Marriott Business card, which matches the SPG Business card. I suspect no one is surprised about that.

For purchases that post to your account beginning August 26, 2018, you’ll earn with the RC Rewards Card (according to "The Ritz-Carlton Rewards® Card Rewards Program Agreement")
I am assuming that "qualifying purchases" (it's not defined in the original agreement mentioned above) in the above means room rate only, then isn't it logical that dining at Marriott/RC and SPG hotels will earn 3 award points per $1 spent and all other (incidental) spending (besides room rate and dining) will earn 2 award points per $1 spent? Or does "qualifying purchases" mean all spending at the hotel (room rate, dining, spa, etc.)?
- 6 Rewards points for each $1 spent on qualifying purchases made at participating The Ritz-Carlton locations, participating Marriott® locations, and participating SPG locations.
- 3 Rewards points for each $1 spent on purchases in the following rewards categories: restaurants; airline tickets when purchased directly with the airline; car rental agencies.
- 2 Rewards points for each $1 spent on all other purchases including purchases for stays at The Ritz-Carlton Destination Club® locations, Charter Rewards points or payment of annual Destination Club program membership dues.

Or in other words, if the transaction is processed through Marriott/SPG it would be qualifying - if not, it would not be.

While I think it's been made quite clear to me now that signing up for the card before Aug 1 will allow for Plat Elite in the New Marriott until 2019, I'm still grey on what happens if I complete min spend AFTER Aug 1st? Is there any way to know or at least theorize what kind of certs I would be earning?

Ritz Card subjected to 5/24?
Just got the letter in the mail that tells me that I was denied for the Ritz cardbecause "you already have the maxi amt of credit we can offer you" and "your current amount of credit is enough in relation to your income". I called the reconsideration line. The woman was extremely curt and not nice. She gave one line answers and wouldn't elaborate when asked and kept just repeating herself. I asked if I coudl move some of the 34K credit limit they gave me on the reserve and said "no, they are not moving credit at this time". I tried to inquire, saying that I thought that was possible and she condescendingly said "things change all the time". Then she proceeded to tell me that I was over 5/24. Which I know I am NOT. UGH. I just also realized that I thought the Ritz was not under the 5/24 rule? However, that is why she said I couldn't have it. First, she touted the max credit, when asked to move some over, she said they don't do that, then she said that I'm over 5/24.

I applied for the card about 3 days ago and was approved in about 15 seconds. I called yesterday to see if i could expedite the process since we have some travel coming up soon. I was told that the normal time was 7-10 business days as stated on their website but due to the rush it could take up to 30 days. The lady I spoke with was predictably vague about the status after August 1st and other details.
One thing I failed to ask is whether the club upgrade certificates and the airline credit were for the calendar year or run through the 1 year anniversary of opening the account. I assume they reset at the end of the year, any thoughts?

I recall both Chase CSR and RC go by the anniversary yer, not calendar year.
