Southwest Airlines GCs work fairly easily. I've generally bought them for $150 and said they're excess baggage fees.

I agree. I think the issue in this case was the need to use a card that corresponded to the owner of the AA miles. Since some of the tickets were from my wife's AA account, I used the Chase Ritz-Carlton Visa. I like the fact that number and CID are the same for primary and AU. Also, she had canned her Prestige card, and it's not a good value for AUs. So for these two trips, I'm locked into whatever this card provides.

That's true. I mentioned that only to point out that the hotels nested within the airfare purchases paid in (small) part with the Chase Ritz Carlton Visa would be paid by a card other than the the Chase Ritz Carlton Visa (in this case, by Citi Prestige). And thus (some of) my confusion:
When I see the blog stories about trip cancellation coverage (and when I read through the benefits associated with Chase RC Visa), everything seems to be governed by the purchase of plane tickets. Am I missing something(s) here, e.g.,,

- that you can only request compensation for expenses within the airfare-purchased card domain (Chase RC Visa) that are also charged to the Chase RC Visa?
- or that trip cancellation compensation is not governed by the airfare purchase card, that in the case of an AP non-refundable hotel, you could ask for that separately, from the card to which it was billed (in my case, Prestige, which may be what you are trying to tell me?)

Prestige's trip cancellation says:
I think lodging is a portion of the trip, but look through the terms to see if there is a contrary definition. My point is only that you could be protected for the hotel cancellation with the card you used to pay for the hotels, if it turns out you are not cover by the card you used to pay for the airfare.
To be eligible for coverage under this benefit, your Citi card and/or
ThankYou® Points must be used to purchase at least a portion of the
Trip. In the event of partial payment, we will only reimburse the lesser
of the actual amount paid for with your Citi card (including ThankYou®
Points) or the maximum coverage per Trip.

Anyone who hit the 10k spend requirement during card member year 1 for an additional year of gold status. Did you receive any confirmation of the same after you hit the spend?

I can’t speak to Gold, but I got no confirmation after hitting $75k for Platinum. Since Marriott doesn’t show elite expiration date, I checked SPG and noticed it expires next year. So apparently it’s a silent celebration.

Last year I was reimbursed for $200/$100 AA GC and was just reimbursed for two $120 Frontier flights.
