OP: Suggest reviewing: FlyerTalk Forums > Miles&Points > Credit, Debit and Prepaid Card Programs > Chase | Ultimate Rewards > “Chase closed my CC account with 300,000+ UR points” thread, specifically posts by brettskyg starting on Mar 25, 14 1:03 pm #132. Although that situation was different (shutdown) the same solution might work for you.

I just did the same thing by accident. Cancelled an Ink card before the AF came due by secure message but forgot to transfer the 350K + UR points to my other Chase Ink UR account. I called a few hours to explained what happened. A specialist came on the phone, reopened my account, transferred the UR points for me, then reclosed the account.
So yes, you can do this. The CSR was very helpful and polite to me.

I recently closed my CSP with 10,700UR still in the account. After I realized my mistake I sent a secure message and got back the standard reply that all points are forfeited when account is closed. I sent a reply back saying I understand and that it was a mistake and that I really need those points to book last minute travel, the csr responded that if I supplied my UA account, the amount of points wanted (can only transfer in groups of 1000) and the name on the account and she would authorize the transfer directly to UA and any remaining points would then be forfeited. I ended up losing the 700 but I can live with that and booked my flight to London.

Luck in getting UR pointsback after voluntarily account cancellation
I know this is silly but I have a friend who closed her account without transferring ultimate rewards points. We are talking about 50K+ points so essentially two round trips within U.S.A. The account was close back in November when the annual fees was due and now we know the points are no longer in her profile.
Anyone has any luck in asking Chase to re-instate the points to another Chase UR earning account? In this case, points were earned using Ink and she currently has Sapphire and Freedom cards.
Thanks

This happened to my wife, but it was the CSR's fault. My wife asked the CSR to transfer the UR points from her CSP card to her Freedom card before closing the CSP card. However, the CSR forgot to transfer the points first and closed the account. We realized the points (around 30k) was not transferred and called back right away. The regular CSR was not be able to do anything for us, but she transferred us to some department and our points was reinstated. I am not sure if how long the account was closed matters in this situation.

Thanks. Just a quick update: After SM'ing via closed INK card and then some more messages, the points are reinstated to another Chase card (Sapphire in this case) and points are already in the account. So in the end, a really impressive response from Chase!

I closed CSP card by sending a SM (not knowing that UR points would be forfeited.) Once I got the reply SM message telling me my card was closed and I forfeited my UR points, I called the number on the SM (same as number on back of card - (800) 493-3319). A very nice CSR immediately reinstated the forfeited UR points by transferring them to the UR balance associated with my Chase Ink Plus card. Is was quite easy. They were very accommodating. The CSR simply inquired about why I closed the CSP card. I told him it was because I was not really using it that much and when the Annual Fee came due I thought it was a good time to close it. He confirmed that I still wanted it closed. I said, "Yup." I verified that the points had been added to the Ink UR balance. They were.
