If you feel your account has been unfairly closed, consider filing a complaint with the Consumer Protection Financial Bureau:

CFPB's complaint form: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/complaint/

When someone reports an account closure here, a lot of the same questions get asked. It might be useful to answer some questions in advance. This could help figure out what happened or how to proceed:
  1. Did you transfer UR points to someone with a different address? Different last name?
  2. Did you sell UR points to someone?
  3. Approximately what percentage of your charges earned less than 5x points in the past 12 months?
  4. Did a Chase or non-Chase bank recently close one of your credit cards?
  5. Are you using up a large percentage of your credit line on all Chase and non-Chase credit cards?
  6. Is your total credit line with Chase much higher than with other banks?
  7. Did you apply for many credit cards or other forms of credit in the past 2 months? ("Many" may be hard to define.)
  8. If you have a Chase checking account how much did you typically deposit in money orders per month, if any?
  9. Did you recently start spending a lot more with Chase than in typical months?
  10. Is your monthly balance frequently close to your credit limit?
  11. Approximately what percentage of spending was on gift cards this year?
  12. How much of your bill do you typically pay using WM or KMart bill payment if any?
  13. Do you have a Chase mortgage or other account that might be profitable to Chase?
  14. Has your credit score or credit profile changed recently? As in: significantly more debt, more open credit lines, or a large drop in your credit score?

Was approved for Ritz Carlton card 14 months later and did nothing unusual with it, other than lower CL from 30K to 10K to free up CL for possible approvals. Tried EX Office- they seem to have zero power once the Mullah in loss prevention has issued a fatwa (my guess: some 27 year old with a god complex).

well it isn’t my time and typing a few words here and there is easy vs being on hold etc.
this here is venting aka good use of time
trying to overturn a chase decision with questionable results ..... creating higher bp

whats up with hostility?

We should be thankful when folks post datapoints and experiences - this helps all of us to see where the wind is blowing at chase and how we need to adjust

Thanks! People remark on my time wasted here and at the same time they expect me to count my new accounts over the last 12/24/... month.

Agreed. There is a fresh "too many cards" denial HERE . Not a closure of existing accounts, but a denial (apparently) based on something distinctly different than the number of accounts opened in the past 24 months.

I had 10 cards with Chase (two just approved by them > they caused the shutdown)
25 new cards in the last 24 month (6 chase)
5 new cards in the last 12 month (2 chase)
3 new cards in the last 6 month (2 chase)
Number of CC and CL was in a constant downwards movement for the last few years. Spend a lot private and business and have changing needs (i.e. corporate travel guideline or private changed in loyalty program) so I every 1 or 2 years readjusted my card collection so I have the best set up (Hilton Amex with Diamond etc.)
Lets of income for my CL, never a single late payment etc.

That's an awful lot of new cards.

Perhaps a bit overly aggressive on the new card acquisitions.

But if I would look further back then it would show that I was more aggressive back then (time travel back to 4/2106 would show higher 6/12/24 numbers). As you can see by the 12 month numbers I slowed down (so I should have triggered the risk flag earlier IF the trigger didn’t change).

I certainly do think the triggers have change over the last few years. Chase implemented 5/24 in 2015/2016, one sapphire card, no bonus in last 24 months, etc. The game continues to involve, and it's trending in the direction of anti-churning and anti-abusive customers.

Abusive is a strong word. The banks offer me all these cards and I used them without MS (which one could call abusive depending on the use). I just use the system to my advantage - the banks just want to make this one sided so that they always win (customers carry balances etc).

"Just using the system to your advantage" comes across as an attempt to minimize or deflect your behavior. While I empathize with you, I am surprised in your reaction (as if you weren't aware of a possible shutdown or other consequences considering your length/involvement on FT).

I play this game in a way that I believe it to be a mutually beneficial relationship. I get cards/bonuses occasionally, maintain each card at least two years paying AFs, charge each card occasionally, etc.

sorry I am not a lobbyist for banks > if they offer cars to me and approve me for cards they should pay up
if they don’t want to they can just not approve me for cards
and as if the banks would pay the sign-on bonus out of their own pocket LOL
They way Chase is doing things:
1) approve me and then make the approval my problem
2) no warning sign
3) not even and email if I would not have checked online I would have no clue
4) got a letter yesterday about a product change etc. as if I would be still in good standing
Is just plain wrong / not illegal or anything like this but plain wrong
i will use my (very limited) influence to ensure none of my colleagues/ friends ever has a mortgage etc with Chase - the little I can do I will do
