Moderator caution: Referral offers -or- links are NOT permitted in any thread in the Chase forum. Instead, see: Credit card referral offers (post only in this thread, read Wikipost first Please do not post ANY application links in the Wikipost or thread, even if you think they are not referral links. If you think there is an extraordinary circumstance where the link is difficult to find elsewhere, consult with a moderator before posting.

What is the best current offer?
A. Beginning April 14, 2022, the public offer has been increased to 80,000 Bonus Points After You Spend $4,000 On Purchases In The First 3 Months From Account Opening. Annual fee [$95] is not waived. This offer is now publicly available. Based on some datapoints, it may be possible to get this offer at your local Chase branch with a one year waiver of the annual fee.

For any CSP offer, be sure to check the pricing details before applying. Normally, the annual fee for the CSP for year 2 and later is $95; however, in mid-2014 and then again more recently, Chase began randomly changing the pricing for some visits to the pages above, with AF as high as $150. If you get a page with that higher pricing, try reloading the page.

Q. Can I apply for this card and earn the bonus after doing so previously?

A. This card is subject to the Chase 5/24 policy. For details, see the wiki and related discussion in Applying for Chase Credit Cards, 2017 onward.

As of August 2018, all Chase Sapphire cards are subject to an additional restriction:
The product is not available to either (i) current cardmembers of any Sapphire credit card, or (ii) previous cardmembers of any Sapphire credit card who received a new cardmember bonus within the last 48 months.
See Sapphire (CSR & CSP) 48 months between bonuses, August 2018 for details and ongoing discussion.

Q. I'm an authorized user for a card issued to my spouse/parent. Does that prevent me from signing up for the same card and earning a bonus?

A. No, being an authorized user does not prevent you from obtaining your own card / bonus.

Q. I just met the spend requirement. When will I receive my signup bonus points?

A. In most cases, your bonus will be credited after the close of the monthly billing cycle in which you meet the spend requirement. (Chase never posts signup bonuses mid-cycle.)

However, owing to a quirk in Chase's system, bonuses associated with charges incurred in the last ~7 days of a billing period may not post until the end of the following billing period. This is true even if the charges appear on your current statement and generate the standard number of points per dollar spent.

Thus, if you meet your bonus spend threshold late in your billing cycle, you may not receive the corresponding signup bonus until the following month. Calling Chase to complain will not change this, so be patient and enjoy your points when they finally appear.

Q. What's the value of a UR point? What are the best redemption options?

A. Because these questions are not specific to the Sapphire Preferred card, see discussion in the following separate threads:
Q. What are the benefits of this card other than UR points?

Benefits Guide https://www.chasebenefits.com/sapphirepreferred

A. See the discussion in Chase Sapphire Preferred Benefits Thread, especially the source documents referenced in the wiki.

As long as DD's college accepts cc payments I could meet MSR in one swipe...

FYI,

My wife applied for the 50k offer early last month and the bonus points were recently awarded after completing the spend requirement. This morning she SM'd Chase asking to match the current 60k offer to her 50k offer and an additional 10k points were added to her account less than 3 hours later.

I had applied for the CSP near the end of February and completed the spend requirement, so I have the 50k+ points in my account as part of my first statement already.

Yesterday I SM'd Chase about the current 60k offer as well, even stating in the SM that I would be willing to pay the $95 AF in the first year in exchange for the additional 10k UR points. I got a SM back that this is not possible.

Called this morning and also got denied the updated offer, with the customer service rep stating that since I applied by Feb x (near end of February) I am not eligible for this offer. Kind of dissappointed by Chase there, even though I know they simply go by the rules.

@eknock007: did your wife apply in February or March?

Actually, she applied around the 3rd of January, met her spend around the second week of February, and the bonus points were awarded at the close of her March billing statement, which was dated 3/2. It looks like you should do a HUCA. BTW, a co-worker of mine was also successful in gettting a match to the 60k offer. This person applied at the beginning of March, but hasn't yet met the spend requirement.

I did try the HUCA and also the second service rep denied my request, even going into kind of a monologue how the 10,000 points are worth $100 and new applicants have to pay the $95 AF now, stating effectively it is only a $5 difference. I told her for me the 10k points are worth more than the $100, that I'd be willing to pay the AF and she said they have all been instructed to not match the current offer with earlier applications. It didn't help that I said "my co-worker got the offer matched"

I will try one more time on Monday and if that doesn't help I am probably out of luck. BTW, in case anyone is wondering, I am always very friendly and do not put them under pressure during the call.

I am thinking Chase got bombarded with match requests and they simply cut the cord. My wife and co-worker literally asked the for the match on the very day that the bonus offer was increased to 60k.

It looks like being able to refer others to the CSP card died along with the change to the 60K offer.

Currently referral links can be generated but get a message of "no longer valid" and kick you to the public application page when accessing.

Chase has been in a giving mood lately, from what I have observed

Don't get me wrong, but I'm actually pleasantly surprised at how generous they are with CLs with me. This is my first Chase card and the CL that I got from them is higher than from any other credit card that I have. In fact, even AMEX, which seems to have a reputation for being generous with CLs, gave me a four figure CL on my first card with them. I applied for the CSP first because of the reports that it was easier to get than the CSR. How long do I have to wait before I can upgrade to a CSR?

Do you know if I can upgrade to the CSR 3-6 months in from my CSP?

In general USA based card issuers will not upgrade or downgrade in the first 12 months due to regulatory considerations.

Any data points of less than 12 months? Say even 10 months? I figure by that point I would have proven to Chase that I can handle the card. I only went for CSP first because this is suppose to be "easier" to get. I'll meet the MSR in less than 2 months. I have some big spending coming up, which I intend to put on the CSP.

chase is pretty strict on PCs. I'd be surprised to hear of anything <1 year.
