Moderator caution: Referral offers -or- links are NOT permitted in any thread in the Chase forum. Instead, see: Credit card referral offers (post only in this thread, read Wikipost first Please do not post ANY application links in the Wikipost or thread, even if you think they are not referral links. What is the best current offer?
A. Beginning April 14, 2022, the public offer has been increased to 80,000 Bonus Points After You Spend $4,000 On Purchases In The First 3 Months From Account Opening. Annual fee [$95] is not waived. This offer is now publicly available. Based on some datapoints, it may be possible to get this offer at your local Chase branch with a one year waiver of the annual fee.

For any CSP offer, be sure to check the pricing details before applying. Normally, the annual fee for the CSP for year 2 and later is $95; however, in mid-2014 and then again more recently, Chase began randomly changing the pricing for some visits to the pages above, with AF as high as $150. If you get a page with that higher pricing, try reloading the page.

Q. Can I apply for this card and earn the bonus after doing so previously?

A. This card is subject to the Chase 5/24 policy. For details, see the wiki and related discussion in Applying for Chase Credit Cards, 2017 onward.

As of August 2018, all Chase Sapphire cards are subject to an additional restriction:
The product is not available to either (i) current cardmembers of any Sapphire credit card, or (ii) previous cardmembers of any Sapphire credit card who received a new cardmember bonus within the last 48 months.
See Sapphire (CSR & CSP) 48 months between bonuses, August 2018 for details and ongoing discussion.

Q. I'm an authorized user for a card issued to my spouse/parent. Does that prevent me from signing up for the same card and earning a bonus?

A. No, being an authorized user does not prevent you from obtaining your own card / bonus.

Q. I just met the spend requirement. When will I receive my signup bonus points?

A. In most cases, your bonus will be credited after the close of the monthly billing cycle in which you meet the spend requirement. (Chase never posts signup bonuses mid-cycle.)

However, owing to a quirk in Chase's system, bonuses associated with charges incurred in the last ~7 days of a billing period may not post until the end of the following billing period. This is true even if the charges appear on your current statement and generate the standard number of points per dollar spent.

Thus, if you meet your bonus spend threshold late in your billing cycle, you may not receive the corresponding signup bonus until the following month. Calling Chase to complain will not change this, so be patient and enjoy your points when they finally appear.

Q. What's the value of a UR point? What are the best redemption options?

A. Because these questions are not specific to the Sapphire Preferred card, see discussion in the following separate threads:
Q. What are the benefits of this card other than UR points?

Benefits Guide https://www.chasebenefits.com/sapphirepreferred

A. See the discussion in Chase Sapphire Preferred Benefits Thread, especially the source documents referenced in the wiki.

24 months are calculated from the time the bonus posted to her UR account, not from when the account was opened.

should have clarified- she’s held it and had he bonus post for more than two years - probably four or five now.

Then you should be good. I'd wait at least a week after downgrading to re-apply for the CSP. If you can meet the combined MSR, then consider the "double dip" CSR/CSP combo.

Thanks much! I hadn’t thought about the double dip, but will figure out if we can make it work.

Question: If you regretted not getting her the CSR before, why aren't you getting it for her now?

Since the bonus has dropped so much. The 100k was really pretty great while it lasted.

Quick question...holder of Chase Ink Biz Preferred and Chase Sapphire Reserve. Applied for Chase Sapphire Preferred, got denied due to “already having a Sapphire branded card”.

That’s a thing? You can only have one or the other but not both?

It's a thing. And as you might imagine like many things on FT it's ground that has been covered many, many times.

Search is your friend (here or Google)

@scubadu

Yeah, yeah, I know. Thanks for the quick reply--normally I'd take the initiative but appreciate the time saver.

No need to search. It's clearly stated in the terms of the card offer:

The product is not available to either (i) current cardmembers of any Sapphire credit card, or (ii) previous cardmembers of any Sapphire credit card who received a new cardmember bonus within the last 24 months. If you are an existing Sapphire customer and would like this product, please call the number on the back of your card to see if you are eligible for a product change. You will not receive the new cardmember bonus if you change products.
You set yourself up for disappointment if you get into the habit of applying without reading the terms..

I'm fairly certain this is acceptable, but wanted to double-check.

I HAD (eons ago) a CSP card, and downgraded to the no AF Sapphire card. That Sapphire card is still active.
I also have the Chase Freedom card.

Since the rule change, in order for me to apply and receive the CSP bonus, *and* in order for me to not loose my UR points, I should:
1) Transfer the UR points from the Sapphire card to the Freedom card (or elsewhere)
2) Close the Sapphire card
3) Wait X days/amount of time and then apply for the CSP card

(It's been well over 2 years for the last Sapphire bonus, BTW).

If I get Sapphire can I transfer all 50K points to my United mileage plus account so that the points are in the United account as opposed to do I have to use the points from the sapphire account or whatever you call it when I want to book travel?. I just want to transfer the points into miles but then I want the miles to be in my United account for later use, is that how it works?

Yes. That's how it works. You can transfer all the points to your United account.

How do business credit cards work as to redeeming points or miles? I saws a Chase business card offering 80,000, but if your card and account are in the name of your business and your United Mileage Plus is in your personal name, for instance, can you transfer to your personal account the earned points?
