Moderator caution: Referral offers -or- links are NOT permitted in any thread in the Chase forum. Instead, see: Credit card referral offers (post only in this thread, read Wikipost first Please do not post ANY application links in the Wikipost or thread, even if you think they are not referral links. If you think there is an extraordinary circumstance where the link is difficult to find elsewhere, consult with a moderator before posting.

What is the best current offer?
A. Beginning April 14, 2022, the public offer has been increased to 80,000 Bonus Points After You Spend $4,000 On Purchases In The First 3 Months From Account Opening. Annual fee [$95] is not waived. This offer is now publicly available. Based on some datapoints, it may be possible to get this offer at your local Chase branch with a one year waiver of the annual fee.

For any CSP offer, be sure to check the pricing details before applying. Normally, the annual fee for the CSP for year 2 and later is $95; however, in mid-2014 and then again more recently, Chase began randomly changing the pricing for some visits to the pages above, with AF as high as $150. If you get a page with that higher pricing, try reloading the page.

Q. Can I apply for this card and earn the bonus after doing so previously?

A. This card is subject to the Chase 5/24 policy. For details, see the wiki and related discussion in Applying for Chase Credit Cards, 2017 onward.

As of August 2018, all Chase Sapphire cards are subject to an additional restriction:
The product is not available to either (i) current cardmembers of any Sapphire credit card, or (ii) previous cardmembers of any Sapphire credit card who received a new cardmember bonus within the last 48 months.
See Sapphire (CSR & CSP) 48 months between bonuses, August 2018 for details and ongoing discussion.

Q. I'm an authorized user for a card issued to my spouse/parent. Does that prevent me from signing up for the same card and earning a bonus?

A. No, being an authorized user does not prevent you from obtaining your own card / bonus.

Q. I just met the spend requirement. When will I receive my signup bonus points?

A. In most cases, your bonus will be credited after the close of the monthly billing cycle in which you meet the spend requirement. (Chase never posts signup bonuses mid-cycle.)

However, owing to a quirk in Chase's system, bonuses associated with charges incurred in the last ~7 days of a billing period may not post until the end of the following billing period. This is true even if the charges appear on your current statement and generate the standard number of points per dollar spent.

Thus, if you meet your bonus spend threshold late in your billing cycle, you may not receive the corresponding signup bonus until the following month. Calling Chase to complain will not change this, so be patient and enjoy your points when they finally appear.

Q. What's the value of a UR point? What are the best redemption options?

A. Because these questions are not specific to the Sapphire Preferred card, see discussion in the following separate threads:
Q. What are the benefits of this card other than UR points?

Benefits Guide https://www.chasebenefits.com/sapphirepreferred

A. See the discussion in Chase Sapphire Preferred Benefits Thread, especially the source documents referenced in the wiki.

Anyone been successfully in gettting two of the same Chase card within one year?

i.e. Get one Chase Sapphire using SS (sole proprietorship)
and another Chase Sapphire using EIN from business.

Being that the Sapphire is a personal card, using an EIN is not going to work out.

I then asked her if that meant that this was a new product for which I could apply for and get the signup bonus again. She said that was correct (!!!!!) but that I could only have one CSP at a time, so I would need to cancel my current CSP before applying for this one.

She also agreed to add 5,000 points into my account for the adding an authorized user part of the new offer.

Very interesting call, to say the least...
did it work? when I called they would not do it for me.
said my account was too old.

I put in an application yesterday, and received a "pending" response (I always get a pending response because I have a credit block). I formerly had a CSP Visa which I downgraded to a CS Visa a few months ago. I also have the CSP MC.

I just phoned Chase to inquire about my app status. they said they did not run a credit search because I already have a card and therefore not eligible. I tried to sweetly say that I was under the impression the card I applied for was different "product" than either the Chase Sapphire Visa or the Chase Sapphire Preferred MC that I have. That seemed to go no where, so I also intimated that if they wanted me to trade up one of my other Sapphire Cards that might be possible. The rep offered to connect me to customer service to cancel a card.... I said no thanks, and that I'd think about it and call back (I figured it was going no where with this rep so I should nicely end the conversation and call back). Any suggestions?

I tried, through Secure Message, to get the new bonus applied to my recently-opened CSP and this was the response from Chase:

"Thank you for your interest in the Chase Sapphire
Preferred bonus points offer.

We are unable to apply the 50,000 bonus points offer to
your account. This offer was for accounts with an annual
fee of $125. Upon review, I see that your account ending
in XXXX has an annual fee of $95.

Although we appreciate your loyalty, we ask that you trust
that this decision is the same for all members. We feel
that adhering to the same policy for all members is the
best way to remain fair and consistent.

If you have any further questions, please reply using the

Thank you,

Hello! I personally have this card and the points have come in handy for transfers when my travel accounts need points Today my daughter applied and was approved for her first Chase card and with the good 50K bonus after spend as well!

Of course, the $125 annual fee is steep so don't know if there will be a renewal or not, which brings me to a couple of questions: Does the 7% annual bonus for points earned still take into consideration the initial after-spend bonus? I assume the annual fee would have to be paid first to get that 7% bonus? Also, if the card isn't renewed at some point, are all the points lost or does that points account still remain open? THANK YOU so much for your taking your time to answer my questions

Yes, they agreed to add the 5000 points for adding an authorized user, but not the 10,000 additional points for the new improved bonus offer. However, keep in mind that my account was opened in the last 60 days.

If I apply for this card, but don't want to add an AU immediately (say 3-4 weeks later) would I still get the bonus? Or do you have to add an AU immediately/during the initial application process?

To those that have gotten them to add 5,000 points for adding an AU - is this a new account for you? Has anyone been able to get 5,000 points for adding an AU to an older existing account?

Ok, here I will answer it for you, if you had this card before:
This is considered new card for me-- I had it from 2009 till 2010. Same Visa that is offered now (but according to them new, reinvented card). Not only that, the representative said I have another bonus noted there: $50 after first purchase (in addition to the 50K points)
Maybe he was confused with the authorized user 5K points, which I did not added, maybe I will get it. Who cares anyways for 50 bucks..I mean I spend that much in a bar on a Friday night
