Convert Chase Freedom to Chase Freedom with Visa Signature
Hi everyone,
Has anyone had any recent experience getting Chase to convert a Chase Freedom (non- Visa Signature) to a Chase Freedom with Visa Signature?
I have had this card since 2006 and have a 10K+ limit. I just called them and was told that a product conversion was not possible and that I would have to apply for a new card.
Since I know I will get questions about this, the next 5% category includes Amazon.com and I want the extended warranty benefits of Visa Signature. Any ideas? I called the number on the back of the card but the woman I spoke to was unable to help except to tell me to apply for another card. Any backdoor to getting this accomplished?
Thanks.

Was turned down a few months earlier. Card is from 2006 or may even be 2005, 20K line so well above the minimum 5K needed for Visa Signature.
The rep said she did not see any issue, submitted a request for the conversion. Several weeks later got a denial letter without any explanation.

I just converted mine back in July/August of this year. I sent a SM to Chase requesting a product change. No credit report was pulled. I have the option of converting it to Visa Signature, MasterCard Platinum, or MasterCard World. My Freedom card was opened in 11/2011 with $20,000 credit limit. I also have a Chase Sapphire Preferred Visa Signature with $25,000 limit.
Just send a SM to Chase. You should be able to convert it.

Did it 2 days ago because I heard a rumor that Chase will stop issuing/converting to VISA Signature on Freedom. The rumor said that it'll be exclusive to CSP. It wasn't true...at least for the time being. I call the number on the back of my card. The front CSR was happy to convert the regular VISA to VISA Signature.

I converted a regular MC Freedom to Visa Signature a few months ago, had 6.8k CL. First time I called I was told it wasn't possible. Sent an SM requesting a product change and was contacted by a credit analyst via phone who happily converted it for me.
Mine was originally opened 02/2009

I did it about two or three weeks ago via @ChaseSupport on Twitter. I had to call in to verify income info.
As an aside, the new card came with the Blink RFID feature. I requested a non-RFID card today that should be here in 3-5 days.

I sent a secured message, had a Credit Analyst call me back, verified my income and upgraded me to the Visa Signature version, took a week and half to receive the new card.
Super happy to get the extra benefits + the visa signature silver logo looks much better!

When did you get the card? Due to the new law passed in 2009, you can't make a product change during the first year of a card's life (i.e. you can't switch to a Signature 6 months into holding the card).

What does chase freedom visa signature look like? Why would you try to convert to this? Hasn't chase been sending out new visa signature benefit docs in mail? I didn't do anything but received few docs from chase about new and improved card member benefits for my freedom and some other cards
