Chase Slate

Quick question,

I have a new Chase Slate with a 50K credit line and I am being told I cannot request a balance transfer greater than 15K. Any trick to getting around this? Can/should I open another Slate card?

Unfortunately you will not be able to open another slate card. You may be able to open a freedom card, but it will be a 3% balance transfer fee. I have not heard of anyone product changing a freedom to slate, but I have the other way so you may be able to get away with that (giving if they have a visa and MasterCard slate).

I was talking with Chase yesterday and they said their system will now automatically deny someone who's been approved for the same card. :( I was trying to get two CSP (mc and visa).

You could purchase some items on your Slate card that are easily converted to cash, then take the cash to pay down on the card you were looking to transfer a balance from. I've been doing this with a Citi card I have that has 0% purchase/balance transfer APR for 18 months, but there is a 3% balance transfer fee.

If you need ideas of items that could be easily converted to cash, check out the Manufactured Spending forum. If you go the Vanilla Reload route you could effectively transfer as much as you need for slightly less than a 1% cost.
