Chase report (max card allowance)
 

Started applying for Chase since late 2011 extensively, before that just had 2-3 cards without annual fee. Got approved on all of them (mostly by calling recons lines) until my last, potential 9th card. The reason-too many cards and they`d like to see payment history on the recently opened 2 cards for the next 6-9 months.

I called to check on status of application (Ink without annual fee), since it`s been two weeks already and a female had kind of that attitude (not bad, but not as usual caring I used to when calling Chase), and since her greeting I had feelings that she is wrong person to deal with (always trust your guts!). She asked questions and put me on hold. Came back saying that they declined due to too many accounts with them. I thanked her and called back and see if another rep would be able to relocate some of the credit (the first rep refused to do that). He placed me on a brief hold, and came back with the same answer-no and advised to apply not earlier that 6 months. Called the 3rd time (some info I got was strange-as first rep told me that I already have 3 biz accounts while I only had 2), got the same answer.

I still can`t complain, as I think I got the best cards they offer-Ink (both Plus and Bold) and Sapphire. I also have United and Marriott (I don`t consider them the best, but I liked my United card for some time before I had Inks). The only card I would like to apply is Hyatt (for stay in Paris, but would have to utilize UR points now). Sure, I would prefer to get approval for the 9th card, but it is what it is-my first denial from Chase.

P.S. for the record, I closed one account (RC) and substituted United Biz for Sapphire.

Seems like you found your limit, which per this thread: How many Chase cards do you/can you have?, seems to vary for different folks.

I actually think (now, when I have all three conversations analyzed) that the main reason was not my limit, but the fact that I already have two Inks for one business and asked for the third for the same business. From their point of view, there was no need for that.

i start apply for chase card from feb 2012. Total are 11 cards and 9 are active including 6 personal and 3 business.

Frankly I do not know which card is worth getting from chase now. I love chase. They never turn me down. I move almost all my spending to chase and paid all annual fee due.

I really do not know the limit but I think if I apply again I can easily get another.
