Is it really worth it to jeopardize your current and future relationship with Chase over 3000 extra points a month?

With any spend that's not within the realm of normal you run the risk of AA.

Another wave starting August 1st. There's going to be a few cardholders who'll still get it until early next year.

Why would you cancel a card that is no-fee and has awesome rotating bonus categories?

Negative. Rotating 5x and no fee makes it a no-brainer for me.

Got the letter in the mail today, being converted to the new program "on or about August 1, 2013." No indication of how to determine when "on or about" actually begins.

I've had the card for about a year, so I think they might be sending the notices out in a way that corresponds with anniversary date - with the change to happen a few months later.

Well, I guess "on or about" August 1, all of my small transactions will start going on the SPG card . . .

Same, I was switched over effective on or about August 1. I was an inherited customer from the WaMu days.

Exactly. 5.5X is still great. And it still earns Ultimate Rewards and is a great place to hold points when churning through Inks and Sapphires.
