How have you redeemed Chase Ultimate Rewards points?

Please mark each of the redemption options that you have used.

The poll software permits only ten responses, some possibilities have been excluded. If you transferred to Continental Airlines before the merger, mark United Airlines. If you transferred to another person's Ultimate Rewards account please mark the way the points were ultimately used, if known. If you have never redeemed points please exit the poll without responding.

None of the above. Redeemed for cash into my Chase Checking account. In the past, I have redeemed for checks.

I'm with you.. not a bad use for redeeming domestic flights on sale. Perfect for topping off accounts too.

I have transferred to both UA and Hyatt. Avios might be a possibility if I didn't live in somewhere with limited AA routes. Any AA flight I take has to go SBA-LAX first so it adds 9k to any roundtrip.

IHG just doesn't make sense (assuming you have at least 5k PC points). The cash+points/cancel trick to buy them is cheaper. 10k points for $70 could be had for 7000 UR points as a statement credit. Transferring would cost 10k UR points. I suppose if you only needed 1-2k it could be reasonable.

I hesitate to answer these polls as they are rarely ever used for good things - usually used to cull low utilization programs and reduce choice - or make high usage methods more expensive to redeem...

Chase already knows the redemption rate for each Ultimate Rewards partner, I don't think answering the question will influence their decision making.

So far: I've booked domestic airfare using the UR website. It's worked well for the two times I've done this - getting me reduced airfare, while still earning points on the travel I take.

started out as cash back with my Freedom account, once I got Sapphire Preferred I first redeemed about 38000 points for nearly $500 in flights on the travel portal, before I realized the value of points. I'd probably take that back now. Since then I've transferred to United once and Hyatt twice. I can see transfers to Korean and BA in my future and Marriott topups as needed. I have plenty of Southwest points already but it'd be a good use in the future.

Oh and I just discovered that Amtrak is a great use of points depending on how you can use it. Any NE Regional ticket is 4000 points one way and 8000 points for Acela Express one way. If you needed to redeem it for a specific train costing $100 or more the regional ticket is a great value. Same goes for 8000 points towards a nearly $200 Acela ticket.

Have transferred to BA, UA, and KE. Have also used points to purchase 2-park tickets to Universal when they were going for 5k UR apiece.

Rental car when the rate was WAY lower, plus once to UA. Still fairly new to UR.

I only have a Freedom so my options are pretty limited so I have always done a $50 gift card for 4500 points....

newbieflyer1 Feb 12, 2013 11:18 am

There is no Cash Back or Pay Yourself Back option. That's what I have done.
