What's the difference between the Ink Bold & Ink Plus cards?
Ink Bold is a charge card (pay balance in full each month), while Ink Plus is a revolving credit card. Otherwise, the two cards are very similar; both are business cards, and both allow you to earn and redeem Chase Ultimate Rewards points (including transfering UR points to air/hotel/rail partners).
Are there special earning categories?
Yes. You earn 5 points per dollar on the first $50,000 spent annually at office supply stores, and on cellular phone, landline, internet, and cable TV services. (Sirius XM Radio also qualifies.)

In addition, you earn 2 points per dollar on the first $50,000 spent annually at gas stations and for hotel accommodations when purchased directly from the hotel.
What are the best current offers?
There are no current Ink Bold offers. There are several non-targeted Ink Plus offers for 50K, all for $5,000 spend in the first 3 months from account opening with annual fee ($95) waived for the first year:
What are the rules for transfering UR points to other users or to my own air/hotel/rail accounts?

Well that pretty much puts a damper on my strategy. Thanks for the clarification.

The conventional wisdom is that, once the card is converted, you're considered a Visa cardholder, and thus can't get the bonus for reapplying.

Should have cancelled before conversion.

Chase Ink Business Card Questions [Consolidated]

So you normally wait for 24 months since your last signup bonus to churn the card. How would someone know how long to wait in this circumstance?

Anyone else hear anything about this?!
First I am hearing of this and would be interested to know if its true. I have the bold at the moment, but will probably ditch it after the year and get the ink plus. I rather have a set credit line, so I know what my spend ability is, rather than a credit line that moves around each month.

I do not do any MS so I open cards only if I have big spending coming up. Thus, I have never had any business cards that typically require a higher spending threshold. My interest is piqued by the current 70,000 UR Points Ink Plus offer but I obviously do not have $5000 spending that can be categorized as business spending. I have a couple of non-business expenses coming up that would help me achieve the $5000 spend... ...a new wooden door, a home gym and some medical bills. My business that does not generate any money yet is related to blogging.

Does Chase keep track of the type of spending on a business card? Have they shut down accounts because of personal expenses on a business card? Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,
JS

First-ever biz card - Approved!

Background info:
  • I am an engineering grad student (about to graduate with a doctorate). I have worked with various people/organizations as a student/intern/fellow as a part of my research. I didn't think I had a business until I was informed to think creatively...
  • I applied last night to Ink Plus as a sole proprietor, used my SSN, $0 revenue, 1 year in business
  • Barclaycard: 767, Experian (US Bank): 784, Karma: 782, Sesame: 811, Quizzle: 771
  • I applied to Freedom & CSP last December (4.5 months ago)

After submitting, I got the message:
"Thanks for Applying. Please call us as soon as possible at 1-800-243-6010 Mon-Fri 8am to 10pm EST to discuss your application with a Customer Support Specialist. We look forward to speaking with you.
Please reference 123456789012 when you call.
We look forward to speaking with you."

I was a bit nervous since this is my first business card. Anyway, I prepared some responses. Here's the abbreviated summary of the ~20 minute call (I elaborated more in the actual call):
  • What does your business do? Engineering consulting
  • How long have you had the business? About a year.
  • Any employees working under you? No.
  • What was your revenue last year? $0
  • How do you market your services? Networking connections, conferences.
  • Do you have any contracts? [I thought she said contacts originally] I've worked with X, Y, and Z companies.
  • How many contracts do you expect to have? 2. [I'm working on a couple projects now. The potential is there to be hired on as a consultant...]
  • When do you expect to make money on your business? This summer. [After I graduate]
  • Is this a full-time or part-time business? Part time.
  • Standard income mumbo jumbo, is $X your income? Yes
  • What is the source of your income? Grad student, about to graduate.
  • So you get money as a grad student? Yes, for doing research.
  • And you're starting a new job at X soon? Yes.
  • What is your title at X? [Insert cool-and-not-boring engineering position here]
  • I was put on hold
  • Since we gave you credit cards last December, we need to take $5k from those cards to open your new credit card with a $5k limit. Do you want to proceed? Yes! [I split the $5k. $3k from one card and $2k from another]
  • I was put on hold again
  • I verified my address.
  • Expect to receive the card and notifications of credit reduction on the other cards in the mail. Good luck!

^
This post is awesome!
I applied for my first-ever biz card (Ink Plus 70k) and was quite nervous, but thanks to the post above - everything was smooth, and I was approved with $0 in revenue.

Thanks, revontulet and thanks, FT! ^

How long from when I purchased a Vanilla Visa gift card @ CVS does it take to post on my chase online account as pending? I purchased a Vanilla Visa gift card last night @ CVS and I don't even see it pending yet.

Did you get a new VISA card from Chase??

I believe people from able to go from MC to VISA w/o the 24mo wait period.

I don't think it will be an issue. While on manual review they could take action I guess and claim you did not use the card for business purposes I do not think its very likely if your using the card for legitimate spend (compared to getting the card and buying 5k worth of giftcards at staples).

I've heard this from a second source that the Ink Bold is going away at the end of 2014. No idea what will happen to existing accounts, but my understanding is they are phasing out apps and one person indicated that in his branch they don't even accept apps for the card anymore.

Yes. We too have a legit business. I am Pres and my wife is VP. We both got the Bold versions with signup bonuses. And we'll both now take advantage of the 70K LTO for the Ink Plus

I have a question that I can't seem to find an answer for online.

My parents own a restaurant and I told them to apply for the chase business ink plus for the 70k UR bonus. The thing is... if i apply on my name, will the card get accepted? My name isn't in the business but my parents are basically retired and I'm running it.

Don't know my credit scores from experian/equifax but my barclaycard & discover card state my TU score is 770. My credit history with Chase is small but when I app'd for the sapphire preferred, they gave me a high credit line from showing responsible spending by paying multiple times a month to keep my utils low.
