Club upgrades...
Anyone know how the club upgrades work? I know you get three "per year", but is that per calendar year or "card year"? I ask because I have a work trip coming up -- I so rarely pay for the Ritz out of pocket! -- so I'd love to have a paid stay with the club upgrade. But I only got the card recently(ish), so I'm wondering if I'll be down to "just" two upgrades until next July if I use one now? Or will I be down to two until January, and then I get another 3, for a total of 5?

Just FYI, I missed the wonderful offer (70k points, 1st year fee waived), but I asked my Chase Private Client banker what she could do and she got me the now-standard offer of 70k points after $3k spend, and she got them to reverse the 1st year fee. YMMV.

Good to know! At least on the mortgage side, my private client banker has said he can't get me the offers that the "retail" side has (like X miles per $1000 financed, etc.), so it's good to know that they may be able to have some pull on the CC side.

$200 RC Incidentals
I have booked a flight on United from New York to New Delhi in Economy. I have an option to buy Economy Plus upgrade for about $150 and my question is, if I were to buy that on United.com using my Ritz Carlton card, can I have this count as an airline incidental?
Has anyone had any luck with something like this?

Buy gift card and pay your upgrade with it I guess.

1) I have gotten a similar purchase on Delta credited automatically as part of my incidentals credit with my Amex Platinum; and
2) I have found that the RC Visa reimburses things more easily than Amex.
So, take that for what it's worth. My guess is that you'd get reimbursed.

Hi everyone, thanks for your input. I see many of you got credit for buying gift cards or flight tickets.
Just wonder if anyone tried using this to pay for car rentals and got reimbursed? Would love to know as I have a rental to pay coming up. Thanks for any help or comment. Have a great weekend.
