I lowered my CL long ago when I first heard about the CL "angle". Im at $1500 (which is fine b/c I prefer earning-on and using other cards. *Question, Annual Fee is now posting as Due. Do I pay the AF and wait in hopes for a refund? Or, contact Chase via phone or SM and state my CL is too low? Ive read hundreds of pages before posting my question. Seems like some (as recently as July) have had their AF waived due to low CL. I don't know how to approach this (as Id like to keep the card for $0 AF, but ofc not keep it if I have to re-up $395. Sorry for a likely redundant question -Ive read the threads, but not sure "protocol" for AF waived request for a low CL. Thanks in Advance to anyone who can help!

You will not be able to keep the card for $0 AF. This only works for the first year, after that you will need to pay the AF or cancel. However, lately the retention offer seems to be one free night after $5000 spend, which effectively gives you one free night for $95 after taking advantage of the $300 airline credit.

What you read in the past was a 'trick' in order to get Chase's automated systems to waive the first year annual fee due to some legislation that Chase does not want to be on the wrong side of. It is not a courtesy they extend, nor a request that can be made, but instead a failsafe they built into their system that people exploited to waive the first years AF. It does not work for subsequent years, as proven by trial and error.
You can call in to cancel the card and see what retention offer, if any, they give you. In the past a retention in the form of a free T1-T4 night has been offered to some.

Sent a sm requesting a refund of "travel charges" which included two fees for AA award taxes. Was given a list of qualifying/non-qualifying charges and asked to provide documentation.

Called today and received the retention bonus of a free tier 1-4 Ritz night plus 5k points for $5k spend in 90 days. They did not have a retention department. They tried to convince me of the value of the cars but I rid then the travel credit was basically useless to me as I fly domestic southwest flights (true). After about 5 minutes she pulled up the offer and I accepted. Woohoo!

Used card for United Gift Registry in June 2015; Chase statement shows "GFT REG"! PMed Chase for reimbursements and they asked for proof. Am I the only one? anyway to get around it? I am going to buy American e-gift, hope it works.

Last year I used my Amex to buy Gift Registry from United and then used Ritz + the gift registry to buy Unied Club membership. Maybe that would work if you showed that you used the gift registry to buy a United Club membership.

I bought "cheap" airfare (<$200) and was able to get them to credit me over the phone. But as always, YMMV.

Ritz rewards credit card
The free night posted quickly.
The 5,000 points did not post.
I called today and the Chase Rep said it wasn't a bonus 5,000 points.....just the normal 5,000 points you earn by charging.
I feel a little cheated but I am happy with the free night at a Ritz.
Ill use at an an Edition Hotel.

For those that have been receiving a night free as a retention bonus, how much spend are you putting on the card?
I was told there were no offers on both my and my SO's account, and basically asked for any spending incentive or offers that might incentivize me to spend on the card.

But of course, calling several times (personally 3 is my limit) could do the trick. Also calling before and after the fee posts might make a difference as well.

So, of course no one knows, but is there any speculation of a return at any point of the 140K point offer? My wife and I are hoarding Marriott points in the long-term hope of booking a big fly and stay package, and 28K0 points would get us most of the way there.
Any informed guesses or rampant speculation is appreciated!
