Found a O/W economy refundable ticket for ~$1,600 and the offer showed up. Applied and said an instand decision couldn't be made, and they'd let me know in writing within 30 days. Exited out without paying for the ticket.

Just called the Chase reconsideration line, and they approved me after moving some credit around. Thanks OP!

My pleasure.

I actually found this trick on another blog in the COMMENTS section. The blog owner responded but never blogged about it because .... he/she wouldn't get paid on this one. (no offense to the bloggers) they do share some good info ... but this one got lost in comments.

I've been energetically fiddling with this for a couple of days, experimenting with *all* the strategies in this thread. So far . . . zero-for-six on getting the offer to pop up.

how long before calling reconsideration line?

I just applied but didn't get instant approval. Has anyone been able to call the reconsideration line the same day as apping? If not, how long are you waiting? I tried calling, but they said I'd probably have to wait 2 weeks because my app hasn't actually been rejected by the system yet and is still being processed.

Just as a data point for people who are trying to get the offer to pop up:
I did a 'flexible conditions' 1 way ticket from lax to lhr leaving June 15th. My total was 1836.

Tried that. Tried different routes. Tried OW and RT. Tried economy vs F. Tried different flight costs. Cleared browser. Used different browser. Rebooted. Enjoyed a wee dram of demon rum and tried again. Tried flights from London to US. Tried arranging my office furniture for Feng Shui harmony and took some Viagra in the hopes that something might pop up.

I'm now zero-for-nine.

I'll keep trying. I'm on a mission.

I called the reconsideration line within minutes of receiving the "pending" message. They located my app via my SS# and were able to approve after manager's review and answering some questions.

I don't think anyone here has gone past the Chase app & actually purchased a ticket.

Not saying it would not work for you with a new BA account number, just that BA system seems DID verify member's data when Chase requested new membership.

Besides, the airline is not dumb - Check this unrelated thread to give you an idea how vigilant BA is in detecting frauds, and how swiftly and aggressively actions are being taken. You only read the last 10 pages to get a good grip.

So if I have a new address than the one listed on my BA account I should be able to get the bonus?
Your assuming Chase doesn't have any involvement in this process; if they do I won't be able to get the bonus.

Any one have some info about this? I'm tempted to pull the trigger soon.

I called about 3 hours later. They hadn't processed my application yet, but did it while I was on hold. I would call back. Previously on another application I called about 2 hours after applying and went throught the same process, but another time I called about 15 minutes later (on a Saturday) and they asked some questions but told me to call back in about 3 days for an answer.

I was able to replicate this. For those that are still unclear:

I can confirm that if you do not get instant approval you do not have to complete any purchase. I am unsure of what happens if you get instant approval as that did not happen to me.

I called the reconsideration line and was placed on hold for 2 mins and approved with no questions asked

Will work on my wife's reconsideration call soon.

For those trying to get the offer to pop up I was able to get it every time i tried. My search was for a ticket from ATL to London one way departing 5/16 as a flexible fare. price $1518. page before payment I got the offer every time.

I logged in to my Executive Club account and went through the process of booking a random flight, LAX-LHR and, as has been stated, at Stage 5 (Payment), I got the offer.

I applied and was not instantly approved. I called the reconsideration line and ended up asking recon for the BA offer and a Sapphire Preferred 50k offer I was recently declined for.

When asked which of the two apps I wanted considered first I froze for a bit because I am new to the game and was not sure which offer to try to get first and risk not getting the other. I chose the Sapphire and after a few minutes, the rep approved the Sapphire and then looked into the BA app. After being sent to the Credit Verification Dept (there was a misspelling of my name on the app) I was approved for the BA card as well.

I am sure experienced players would have done this differently, but it worked out for me.

Thanks to all for the advice.

I wasn't approved online, either, but they called me about an hour after I submitted the application, asked some questions, and said I'm approved. Great way to get some extra Avios. Thanks, Igor718!

Oh, and I did not have to buy a ticket, either.
