Got the Chase BA card and 100K miles over 6 months ago...

Now can I close the card now and keep all the miles? I dont remember what the agreement was in terms of how long I had to hang on to the card.

The BA miles are all yours - go ahead if you want and cancel the credit card.

Would be good if another Chase card is of interest to you to apply for that one ( Sapphire or Marriott??) and if they hesitate allowing you the card 'offer' to close the BA and move the credit line

The Sapphire and the Explorer are great options.

I prefer the Sapphire because of Chase's Ultimate Rewards transfer partners. You also get 2x points on travel, meals, and entertainment. It does have a 3k spend in 3 months.

Or keep it, spend $30K and get a 2-4-1 voucher to double the value of your miles (if redeemed on BA).

At least reallocate the credit line to existing card or a new card to churn before you cancel it.

You can as long as it was a different card type. Readers on my blog who have had the United Mileage Plus card are reporting getting approved for the United Explorer as well.

...and don't forget to occasionally check to make sure your miles aren't expiring soon. If they are, BA website has a shopping mall that will allow you to extend the expiration date via internet shopping.

God I wish I did not miss that 100K offer. BTW what was the spend to get the 100K? (Also they need to come back with that offer.)

It was $2500 in 93 days, but the annual fee was not waived first year

Also, with the new Avios downgrades, it's not as exciting a deal. Still a lot of points and can be useful if you have expensive short-hauls, but where's the fun in that?
