Same as other offers out there but this has a $75 credit added in.

They keep sweetening this card. My guess is that the prior offers have not been getting much traction. Maybe if we continue not applying, the deal will get even better!

Are the points transferable to anywhere? The free night each year may pay for the fee......

Did they raise the fee on this card? I don't recall it being $85 for it, but first year's waived with a $75 credit. Not bad I guess.

AFAIK, the fees used to be $65 till 6 months back. 50K points can be up to $500 depending upon the hotel the points are being redeemed at. So it is a very good offer.

Here's a link to a 70K Card (doesn't seem targeted) with the same benefits minus the $75. But I think I would take the extra 20k MR over $75.

70,000 Marriott points transfers to 25,000 miles with Alaska, British Airways, Delta, Hawaiian, United, US Airways, etc. The best value is in redeeming for hotel points.

What does "Elite Night Credit" mean? I'm suspicious of the wording. Is this really a free night every $3000? It seems like I could get a free week just by using the card normally, as my primary card.

So that's what Elite Night Credit means: It means that for every $3000 you spend, you're the equivalent of one paid night closer to the next level of Elite Status. It has nothing to do with getting free nights, it has to do with getting higher levels of Elite Status more easily.
The card starts you off with 15 Elite Night Credits every year (before any spend is counted). If you spend $3000, you get 1 more, so a total of 16. If you spend $6000, you get 1 more than that, so a total of 17. Etc. That lessens how many paid nights you have to stay to get to Gold or Platinum elite status that year.
If you hardly do any paid stays at Marriot, you won't get to any Elite Status level above Silver (which doesn't give you much), so no point worrying about putting a few thousand more spend on it. Where it matters is if you can do, say, 33 paid nights that year but not 35, then $6000 of spend on the card will get you to Gold Elite status, while without that $6000 of spend on the card you'd be two nights short of Gold Elite (and thus still stuck at Silver Elite).
(And Gold is the "sweet spot" Elite Status Level at Marriott, as that's when you get free internet, lounge access and/or breakfast at many brands on weekdays in the US and 7 days overseas, etc. You get a bit more with Platinum, but for most people not radically more. And you get way way less with Silver.)

How long does it take for the free CAT 1-4 night to show up in your account after account activation?
Thanks.
Thanks.

it may post when the first statement closes. (this is when the bonus points post from sign up--- however, I'm fairly certain my cert. showed up well before the 1st statement closed).

The links above for 70k points no longer work, but here's a link that's still active for a 50k offer and has a landing page.

I got one of these cards in January 2012. How long do I have to wait before I apply for a new one to get a 50k bonus I don't care about the free night certificate, just the 50k points.
