GUA immigration
Heya all -
I'm headed down to Guatemala City in a week and a half and wondered if anyone could tell me about how long it takes to clear immigration. I'm on flight 807 from LAX, arriving at 04.37, arriving the morning of 05Oct if day of the week makes any difference. I'm planning on heading on to Flores on a TACA flight and have the options of 06.45, 09.55, and 17.25. Would I be safe booking the 06.45 flight? I'd imagine there aren't too many international flights arriving so early in the morning but have no idea how rapidly or slowly things move down there Thanks for any advice - Iggy |

At that time in the morning, you will likely be the only flight processing through immigration; unfortunately that probably means they have less people manning the immigration booths at that time. If you're at the front of the plane, immigration will be a snap (10-15 minutes tops), but if you're seated towards the back and the endpoint is GUA, the line could be longer (25-30 minutes). If you are somehow behind some other LAX flight, expect at leats 30 minutes.
Having said all that you should be able to make the first flight out. You need less prep time for the domestic flight to Flores so even budgeting a worst case of an hour, you will make it to the Taca counter with at least an hour to spare. No problem. If something happend Taca will bump you cak to the next flight. |
Thanks for the info - went ahead and booked the 09.55 before I read it. Figured better safe and if I get in on time can try standby on the earlier flight. At worst, I spend 4 hours in the Guatemala City airport. Hopefully it'll be a fun trip. Thanks again.
