Costa Rica Honeymoon Itin over Easter
 

Hello!
We are planning a Costa Rican honeymoon from April 14-25. Easter is the 20th. Im looking for feedback on my itinerary and wondering how going over Easter is going to impact us.
-MIA-SJO We're getting into SJO fairly late, so plan to spend the night there.
-The next morning, April 15, we plan to do the Exploradores Pecuare rafting trip and use it as our transport into Puerto Viejo afterwards. Spend the night there.
-April 16, we want to do two things: the sloth sanctuary tour and snorkeling. I am unsure how to get from Puerto Viejo to the sloth sanctuary, especially by 7am (there is a 7AM and an 11 AM tour). Do taxis run then? I know there are public buses by I've ben unable to find a route to Penhurst. Then transport back to Cahuita where we plan to spend the night? If you recommend taxis what are reasonable fares? We would like to snorkel in the national park this do too. Any advice on how best to work this to get both in? Could we do the 11 AM tour and get snorkeling in before that?
-April 17 Pick up for 2 day Tortuguero excursion with Exploradores, they provide lodging
-April 18 Finishing up excursion and use for transport to Arenal
-April 19 Ziplining, rio celeste tour? Another night in Arenal
Any other suggestions as far as tours go here?
-April 20 Rent car and travel to Guanacaste, stay at JW Marriott
We are planning to use Alamo in Arenal, but this is Easter Sunday. The website doesn't give me a problem booking, but I don't want to get stuck. I've read and read about renting cars in CR, and it seems like you'll be alright not traveling at night, using common sense, and being vigilant behind the wheel. I assume this goes for this route, too? We just don't want to be stuck at the Marriott and thought we'd drive from here to save on the transport cost.
Anyway, no real plans here other than laying on the beach. We'd like to go fishing but it looks like more than we'd want to spend.
-April 25 Travel back from Guanacaste to SJO, drop car off there
Would like to fly out of Liberia, but the BA engine doesn't think AA flies out of there, and AA award availability was 0 this day anyway, so we're doing the drive to save what looks like $1400. May consider a drop off closer to Guanacaste and take Sansa to SJO.

Oh, and safety. Should I be especially concerned over any of these places?

Any words of advice? TIA!

from the 16th to the 18th many things will be closed, Easter here is a much bigger deal than in the US ,and on Easter Sunday actually most things are back to normal

in puerto viejo there are two places where you can see sloths ,

this http://www.jaguarrescue.com/ (right in puerto viejo) and this http://www.slothsanctuary.com/ (you are probably talking about the 2nd one) but keep in mind you could do the 1st one and see if thats enough as its more convenient to you

as far as fares, of course you negotiate and agree on a price before going anywhere, I dont think you will have much trouble locating a taxi , may be he could wait in the sanctuary while you do your tour and take you back? or pick you back at a certain amount of hours later on

First, congratulations on your upcoming marriage. :)

Easter Day itself is a horrendous day for traffic as everybody heads back home after the week off. You'll kind of be going the opposite direction from the masses on that day, but I'm wondering how many people who live in Guanacaste spend that week in Arenal and would be headed in your direction. Be prepared for traffic just in case.

Thursday and Friday of Holy Week are legally dry days in Costa Rica. No alcohol can be sold or served. You'll have to be okay with no beer or wine or mixed drinks on the 17th or 18th.

this used to be true but now its a 'depends on what municipality you are in' , places with heavy % of tourists may have alcoholic drinks.

doesnt hurt to be prepared :)
