DBS 5,000 Asia Miles offer 24 Jul-17 Oct

https://dbs.esdlife.com/BlackCard/register.aspx

One thing not mentioned on the page is the minimum spending amount to earn the 5,000 miles. It would be sent to you by mail. Mine's 26K for instance.

What spending amounts have other people got?

Maybe Iamhappy got a Happy Deal (instead of a Happy Meal (or both!))

Not a bad deal, but be reminded you have to pay the 1600 HKD annual fee ... plus the conversion fee

For air mile conversion: 15 points for 1 air mile. An administration fee will be applied to each air mile conversion: 120,000 points or below costs HK$100; 120,001 points to 180,000 points costs HK$150; 180,001 points or above costs HK$200.
So .. for me as a low end user in the food chain, assuming I spend 20K HKD over the promotion period ....

DBS Black : 3333 miles
15x Amex Plat Promo: 20K miles (+HKD 1800 fee)
10x Amex + fixed welcome offer: 30K miles (+HKD 1800 fee)

so basically I am paying HKD 1800 for 27000 miles, which almost good enough for a Japan round trip tix

Note: the 15x offer only make sense if you expect to spend 38K+ HKD on it within 3 months, as the welcome offer package max out at 550K pts and go back to the normal 2x pts

I will take it

Oh, typo! Should have been 5k (I was probably thinking about the 60k reward points which would then be transferred to 5k Asia Miles).

Don't you have a 5,000 mile offer from DBS for 24.3K spending http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/catha...hk-12.html#167?

Right, Amex Plat CC will be the next phase after archiving the DBS target (which I am already half-way done)

HKD1 to 1AM is pretty sweet. Any idea if and when I can cancel the card after the Welcome Offer is exhausted? I don't intend to use it for the 7.5 to 1 mile as it is not as good as Fubon, so would want to escape the HKD1600 annual fee for the 2nd year, if possible. Thanks.

I don't think Amex charges you to cut the card at anytime after issue.

But you would want to keep this card for as long as you can without paying the next fee - cos of up to 50% discounts for Maxims and MAX concepts dinners.

The 2nd year fee is $1,600 but you can ask Amex to give you $800 back in supermarket coupons - that's been given to most of my Plat Cred friends this year.

question is, when does amex charge the first annual fee? Is it right when you get the card or is it after twelve months?

There's no annual fee waiver so I suspect the first annual fee will appear in your first statement. The second annual fee probably on your 12th / 13th month which you can call and cancel the card (+waive the fee)

can a big bank deposit replace the earnings requirement for the AMEX?
