Transit in HKG from mainland China allowed again
Good news for those of us plotting our venture outside mainland China via CX.... we can soon once again transit in HKG!

Of course, for me personally as an American, if I leave it means I can't return to China. Ugh. 2020. What a year.... Stay safe everyone. Looking forward to boundless skies again someday soon...

Just so anyone super excited understands the key word of "from" - the key restriction is that you can leave, but not come back... which limits the usefulness for sure. As you say, will allow some to leave China if they wish, though the economics of flying a full flight one way, and an empty one the other, means it won't be as good for Cathay as it could be - but it's better than nothing for them I guess.
Transit in the other direction, inbound to mainland China, will remain banned at a time when China’s aviation regulator has severely limited the number of international flights due to concerns over the spread of coronavirus.
