Sleeping area in the Pier - is it busy in the mornings?
We arrive in HKG at 7am from an economy red eye and have an 7.5 hour stopover. Assuming we'll need sleep, I thought the best plan would be to transfer down to departures and go to the Pier J lounge sleeping area. Does anyone know whether the Pier J sleeping area is often busy in the mornings? I wouldn't have thought a lot of people would want to sleep first thing in the morning, but maybe there are other transit passengers coming off redeye flights...
I ask because the other option would be to go to an airport hotel, but that would require going straight from arrivals. Once we are at the Pier, I gather it is possible but a bit of a palaver to get back up to arrivals in order to go to the airport hotel. |
I was there at around 7sm recently and it was very quiet with plenty of beds available

Should be quiet at that time. The lounge usually peaks in the mid afternoon so you should be fine. Enjoy the lounge!

it's usually very quiet around 6-8am, and will be even quieter now, given many flights are no longer going thru HKG given the n-CoV outbreak.
Enjoy a (long) hot shower and a good nap! Don't forget to ask for a blanket from the reception, and bring earplugs and a mask. And set phones to silent before zzzzz-ing :) |
