Fact check - they all cost the same now.

To cater for the demand for Chinese students travelling to US/Europe in the new semester, CX posted schedule for August and early September on its Chinese social media.

There are some highlights for the friends who cannot read Chinese:

During the peak week in late August, CX will operate:
18 weekly PEK
21 weekly PVG
2 weekly CAN
3 weekly CTU
2 weekly XMN
1 weekly HGH
1 weekly FOC

And:
11 weekly JFK
7 weekly BOS
2 weekly ORD
10 weekly LAX
6 weekly SFO
7 weekly YYZ
7 weekly YVR
14 weekly LHR
3 weekly MAN

There is report that CX is objecting Greater Bay Airline application to fly for certain routes.
Report is in Chinese though.

CX is in the news again for firing cabin crews who are unable to vaccinate due to medical reasons with revenant doctor letters.

That's not exactly what the SCMP is reporting, if you are referring to this story: https://www.scmp.com/news/hong-kong/...discrimination

The flight attendant in question took an ECG in June with no clear diagnosis and expected to see another doctor later. Other CX employees with valid medical exemptions were cleared.

there are other cases as reported in the oriental daily news in Chinese with reasons such as breast feeding n cancer.

Yeah, breastfeeding is not a contraindication for the BioNTech vaccine, and neither is having had cancer in the past (quite the contrary: many former cancer patients need to have earlier boosters). Based on the — admittedly limited — information from that paper, it seems to me that CX made an appropriate call so far (which they will have to justify anyway).

Travel Agent Advanced Notice of Cancellation

I'm traveling from Vladivostok to San Francisco on January 9th and am looking to secure an option that is not likely to get cancelled. One such option seems to be VVO-ICN-HKG-SFO on S7 and CX. I was trying to work with a travel agent to see if I could get this all booked on one ticket. On January 9th, CX 419 connecting to CX 872 is available for sale, with inventory showing in Expertflyer. CX seems to be regularly operating CX419 on Sunday evenings this month, and occasionally operating CX872 early Monday AM as of now and it seems to be solidly on the schedule from the beginning of November. However, the travel agent told me that these flights were cancelled already and send me the attached screenshot. Is there any other way to confirm that these flights are definitely already cancelled?

To be honest this already looks like a dodgy connection even if the flights are not yet cancelled. Wouldn't the safest bet be to fly VVO-ICN-SFO and avoid HKG all together?

Thanks, my goal was to find a route that was unlikely to get cancelled (i.e. flights operating now) and also on OneWorld. My research into this route raised the question of if flights are actually cancelled well before inventory has been zeroed out.

VVO-NRT-SFO/LAX seems to be viable? S7 connecting to JAL. JAL flights seems to be operating consistently. Not sure about S7.

CX will be hit by stricter rules for flights to countries A (high-risk):
https://www.scmp.com/news/hong-kong/...e-times-cathay

Expect more cancellations from CDG, AMS, UK and USA.

Is HKG trying to bury CX? With more key CX markets accepting that this virus will become endemic, presumably they all become Cat A countries from HKG's perspective?
