RBC Avion to Spouse Asia Miles
 

Hi all,

I plan on booking a trip but I have a small portion or so asia miles in my account. I have another small portion in my HSBC account which I plan on converting during the 10 % promo going on. My wife has RBC Avion points which I would like to convert as well to AM. I know you can pay the fee and transfer the points but I plan on transferring either around 100K points + or from myself to her 50K + points. My question is does anyone have experience transferring from RBC to someone elses AM account or HSBC (Canada) to someone elses AM. account. Alternatively I can join up on her card and I assume transfer it to my account...

Just call RBC Rewards (and the HSBC equivalent) but I doubt they will go for this otherwise people with one AM account start advertising to buy miles from unrelated Avioners (as they call them) to shuttle points into one account. As a secondary cardholder I bet they will not be wild about the idea either.

Why don't you call RBC Rewards and just ask them? Instead of asking for experience just ask them. It's either yes or no or your supplemental card idea as an option. If those all flop, put the points in her account and use the Asia Miles program transfer method.

More and more people post here before a problem (that may not exist) - they don't ask the airline, credit card, hotel, nothing, just ask for anecdotes.

I assume you need 150,000 points in one account for an award, otherwise she could book a trip for you with her points if the award fits within her balance. Much simpler.

For HSBC it's a no.
