"New sign-in alert" emails

Last month I got an email from AsiaMiles saying "We noticed a new sign-in for your AsiaMiles account" and specified that it came from Mac OS X in the United States. I don't use a Mac and I'm not in the US, so I changed my AsiaMiles password to something ridiculously secure (random selection of 18 upper and lowercase letters and symbols) and then spent 6 hours changing all of my passwords on all of my other accounts. My new AsiaMiles password is not shared with any other account.

Then today I get the same notice:

Dear Ms Giblet

We noticed a new sign-in for your Asia Miles account **********.
Date and time: 2019-12-11 18:39:47 (GMT+8)
Operating system: Mac OS X
Location: United States
You can ignore this message if the above information looks familiar.

If you do not recognise this activity and suspect someone may be trying to access your account, please change your password immediately. To reset your password, visit asiamiles.com and click “Forgot password?” on the log in page, then follow the instructions.
Should you require any assistance, please contact our service hotline.
Yours sincerely,
Asia Miles Team
I am positive that no one could have my password, as it's random and not shared with any other account. And the 5000 miles I have in the account are still there. So what is going on here? Is anyone else getting these emails?

Do you use award wallet or any such services like that?

Yes, that must be it! I use AwardWallet and I just checked and the last login to my AsiaMiles was the date last month that I got that notification.

BUT, I never updated my AsiaMiles password with AwardWallet, so they could not have logged in today. I don't use any other similar services. But maybe AsiaMiles sent that notification about a login attempt rather than an successful login?

Anyway, it was a good kick up the pants to change all of my passwords, and I'm glad I did it. I just don't want to do it again today.

I got one a while ago from Thailand and then again tonight from South Korea. Last time I got the one from Thailand I changed my password to something very secure and didn't really think about it again as I don't use the same password for any services.

After tonights email it got me thinking that even just a failed attempt triggers the email to be sent and sure enough using my Asia miles number but just random characters in the password box triggered the email as I'm currently not in the country registered on my Asia miles account.

The emails are a bit misleading as they say "We noticed a new sign-in for your Asia Miles account" which is not the case as it's just an unsuccessful sign in that triggers the email.
