Eh? Are you referring to Danny Lee's Twitter post? He is the SCMP's aviation corresponddent and posts regularly in this forum as @dannyhk . It seems to me he's just doing his job - why do you think that might be career limiting?

CX denied it per https://www.hk01.com/社會新聞/363251/內地網...33322;班. Comments from https://www.flyertea.com/thread-3110046-2-1.html vary (I don't have an account, so I can only view comments from page 2 on). The actual flight path around the border of Heilongjiang does seem suspicious.
But there is some confirmation:

People should have the right to demonstrate and there is a huge difference between demonstrating and rioting. The rioting is what concerns me. Now even today the airport is closed. CX has already been in financial trouble and this is going to hit them very hard. Forget about the China flights but by closing the airport the whole economy is going to be hit very hard.
The whole fiasco is actually with the HK CE. They have been so incompetent is the main reason why this whole thing has come to this level. I hope that they can open the airport soon and let the flight operations begin.

There used to be some really insightful guys on Flyertea though, like some five years ago.
