On the waitlist second time for an upgrade award on CX138 on Mon 19th August

Hi there everyone,

I had upgraded to MPC Silver for the first time last month, and trying to wrap my head around the benefits/perks here...

I had recently bought a round trip ticket on Premium Economy from Hong Kong to Queenstown, New Zealand.

One of my flight legs is fully flexible (R class fare) on flight CX138 from Sydney to Hong Kong on Monday 19th August 2019.

My flight leaving Hong Kong is in CX Premium Economy, but booked with fare class "E" which cannot be upgraded with Asia Miles.

When I purchased my flight ticket in early July 2019, I applied on Asia Miles for an upgrade award for my flight home (CX138, Sydney to Hong Kong on Monday 19th August), and the Asia Miles website stated the cut off was 22:00 on 27th July 2019.

However after 22:00 I did not receive anything from the airline or Asia Miles, and I simply applied for an upgrade redemption again (new cut off is now 16th August, 3 days before I fly).

I then called the MPC hotline to explain what had happened, and the agent said what I did was correct, and she'd put me on a higher priority wait list- Is this something the agent really can do?

I am not an expert on loyalty programmes and would appreciate any advice/input from all you experienced travellers out on FlyerTalk.

Thanks in advance!

What would be the odds of an upgrade from PY to J here with the flight date/info provided?

Very different availability display POS Taiwan vs. POS USA, so not sure what to advise you. In case the waitlist is never cleared, you can try at the airport.

You'll need to look at the inventory availability that earnestnywang provided. But like he said, there is a good chance that the inventory availability on expert flyer may not be entirely accurate.
