Munich to Hk question
Hi all,
I have an upcoming CX booking from MUC to HKG.
The first sector is Lufthansa and goes to Frankfurt. LH101 (sold as CX6716)
From there, it’s a 1hr35 minute connection to the CX 288 HKG flight.
It’s all on one CX PNR and travelling as Oneworld Emerald.
Questions:
1. Will the bags be checked right through from MUC, noting that LH is not a Oneworld carrier?
2. Is 1hr35 at FRA manageable? Or would I be better off trying to switch to an earlier MUC-FRA flight?
3. Will I have any lounge access at MUC (OWE)?
Thanks for any info.

2. Should be. MCT is 45 min. (or 60 min. if you were booked on the LH prime flight)
3. No, only at FRA.

Thanks for this info. The official MCT seems really low, especially considering it's a Schengen to Non, so I will need to go through passport formalities.
The other concern is a late arrival of the MUC to FRA flight. It's in January, so there may be delays for deicing operations.

Lat month, I just flied Berlin to FRA by LH and connect CX 288 to HKG, quite similar as your trip.
95 mins transfer time is enough as long as there is no delay by LH.
But I recommend to leave it at least 2.5 hours.
1. LH arrives in Terminal 1 but CX departs from Terminal 2. Traveling between two terminals takes quite some time particularly when you are not familar with FRA.
I remember my first time to FRA many years ago. It was like a maze!
2. Passport check could possibly take a long queue too particularly when you are not an EU passport holder.
3. Security check is OK. It locates right before the boarding gates, same as SIN does. Usually during that time, the security check station is exclusive to CX flight.
If you could rebook the LH flight with no extra charge, taking earlier flight is recommended.

No, at least one is not entitled to. However, sometimes CX will put the priority tag on when they receive the bag from another carrier. I don't know if they do that at FRA, but I've seen this done at LAX and some other North American ports.

I see. This scenario makes sense to me. On the other hand, if I can show that I have *G status, then I will be entitled to receive a *A Priority tag from LH/LX right? However, I'm not sure whether CX will treat it as Priority or not when they receive the bag

If CX was the carrier to the final destination, only OW elite status or J/F passengers’ bags would get priority

I see. So there is no way I can get a Priority tag on a LX-CX itinerary then? It seems that neither my *G status or my CX status will get me priority baggage treatment.

I suppose you are SA G and CX green? If so, your bag would have priority when you fly HKG-FRA-MUC(or any LH/LX flight). The rule is simple- the last carrier of the itinerary dominates it

To be honest, I don’t know how the LH baggage system works. Either the system would identify SA G automatically and lead ground crew in FRA to put a priority tag on it ( this is how CX does in HKG) or the system would not recognize the status at all! If the later, passenger can always request it at Senator lounge. I’m sure the lounge crew would be happy to assist
