So thinking we should maybe aim to leave hotel about 7am? any idea about how much a taxi would be? thanks again
I'd be quite comfortable with 7a myself. The first 10 km or so could be very slow, but after that, you should be in the clear. In fact, you actually have a decent chance of making it all the way to T3 in less than 45 minutes.

Thank you moondog, nice to know you don`t have to be at the airport as early as you do at Manchester!

You do have to finish check-in 60 minutes ahead of a T3E departure in PEK, and 60 min is barely enough to get through immigration and security.

Lots of T3 airlines advise/require T-75. IIRC KA went with T-60 because business travelers on regional flights don't like to waste time. But, I still try to show up at around T-90. Border control for me is a breeze because of echannel. However, the train drill and security can be a drag.

I`m not really sure what T-75, T-60 or T-90 means.

We have a driver booked, just need to confirm actual pick up time, am wondering if we would be better aiming for 6.30am? hopefully there by 7.30am and then have a good 2 hours to get through security and maybe even a quick coffee in the lounge? thank you

Had a similar scenario last year on my November trip connecting from CX879 to CX679. Layover time was 1.5 hours, so we ended up going through security not too far from gate 40, which was quicker than the first one across from gate 49, thanks to the friendly staff who realized people had tight connections.

Still had spare time to relax before my flight. It should not be an issue and even if it does, they will get you on your connecting flight. That's my experience

T=scheduled departure time
- = minus
# = minutes

You'll be fine with t-90; no need to leave at 630a.

Thank you for taking the time to explain what it all means. We will go back to 7am pick up (might even have time to manage a coffee and croissant before we leave the hotel)

Hi, we are back from our travels and had a wonderful holiday.

ur flight from PEK took off on time and landed at HK with no delays, however, soon after landing it was announced that all flights from HK were cancelled due to the protests at the airport. We did not get to fly out to Dan Nang until 15.40 the next day so a delay of 21 hours!! Luckily we had use of Cathay Lounges but definitely not the best or cleanest we have been in and Cathay Pacific were very not helpful, there were no announcements, information or assistance given about what was happening.

I`m not able to get in touch with our travel insurance claims department (Sainsburys) until Monday but not holding out a lot of hope... we would like to claim for is 2 x £35 (per 12 hour delay) and a refund of our hotel for the 12th August which had been pre-paid. Do you think we have any chance?

Flying BKK (CX616) HKG (CX 806) ORD in J (mini cabin on the way home - looking forward!) around the new year and got a notification that connecting time was compressed with inbound flight landing at 10:15am and the ORD flight departing at 11:30am leaving only 1hr 15min. This is our first time to HKG airport, from what it looks like if the inbound flight is delayed there will be an agent to escort us to the next flight and I'm not too concerned.

This is my first time at HKG and my question is, assuming things all go smoothly, will there be enough time to transit airside and go to the Wing? Is the side immigration check faster then walking to the end of the arrival hall (where the Wing is I understand)? I've seen a few conflicting reports that you can walkup to the gate T-10 (others say T-30 minimum) and still be fine. Would also think that no secondary security for US flights anymore will help. Think we'll have a chance to try the noodle bar?

First time poster so please be easy on me, I tried looking through other threads. Thanks.

Welcome.

The time is fine, but going to the Wing may not work out. You’ll board ORD with time to spare, but you’d struggle trying to add lounge.

I'm guessing he'll have time to pop into the lounge closest to his gate, and hang out there until final boarding. Whether or not that lounge is the Wing is a different matter, but I think all of the lounges are decent enough for killing 20 minutes or so.

Agree.. A lounge.. but likely not the wing given it's location.. Today it left from 44... More Bridge territory

Thanks. No, it doesn't have to be the Wing. For whatever reason I wrongly assumed that would be the closest. Do you guys agree that T-30 is too early to show up at the gate and it can be cut a little closer?
