No bonus miles for CX elites?

I'm wondering if CX is the only major airline that does not grant its elite members additional redeemable miles (RDM)? I think most other major airlines will give more RDM for its elites. Has it always been like this?

I think KE Skypass also doesn't. Also SQ would generally give on its own metal but they have intentionally excluded all Economy Lite booking classes.

I see. Good to know. Thanks!

Yes.

Because CX believes it has absolute advantage.

Wow! I would be gladly trading one of CX's lounges for bonus miles for elites, haha:)

Burn rates are lower than a lot of other programs though.

How about YQ?

Better than BA at least.

Actually what I like most about CX is that the bookable upgrades allow you not only to use revenue discount inventory of the class of service you upgrade into, but also accrue based on that booking class. That's pretty rare and more than makes up for elite tier bonuses IMO.

Yes, indeed! This is a pretty rare benefit. The first time I read about it I was in total disbelief, and I had to read it twice to make sure I did not misunderstand it :)

Interesting... but how does that make up for the bonus miles? You only get 4 flights per year where you get a 25% bonus miles (say you do a I-A upgrade so 125% to 150%) whereas elite tier bonus would give you 50%-100% bonus miles for every flight you take throughout the year?

Doesn't this depend on where one is heading? When I made intra-asia bookings, I usually end up using either BA miles (as long as it is non-stop) or AA miles (especially if i need to get around the married segment issue). I found avios to be better than AM. AA is somewhat comparable but AA EXP gives me 245% vs 125% given by MPC so the fact that their redemption rates are comparable means AA rate is actually about half of AM ... :D
My redemptions are for the usual suspects - QR, CX, JL or MH - so I think YQ charges are more or less the same for all three miles. I don't think I've ever redeemed a BA flight.

So, does that mean you get the MP points based on the final booking class as well?

Ya, I'm also curious how this more than make up elite bonus given by other FFPs? When I look at my ex-US flights, I don't think this works? Say JFK-HKG which is approx 8K miles. Back then CX gave me about 11K for J and this bookable upgrade (to F) will bring it to 15K. Currently AA gives me 8K base (100% miles flown), 2K cabin bonus (25% for J) and 9.6K elite bonus (120% for OWE) for a total just under 20K. Same with other US ports. I don't know the math for avios but I suspect it's somewhat the same (for flights where BA gives you elite bonus)?

I don't mean it makes up in terms on quantity of miles alone. The ability to upgrade into revenue space represents very significant value when compared with other FFPs.
