Mistake Fare Downgrade
Today’s Cathay Dragon flight HAN to HKG (KA 294) is delayed, meaning I will miss connecting flight HKG to SFO (CX 872).
Cathay has emailed that they rebooked me on CX 870, departing at 2pm instead of original departure at 00:45.
The rebooked flight is now in J instead of F. Stated reason for rebooking is “operational reason”.
Will CX provide hotel overnight in Hong Kong?
I intend to make best of the situation and see a bit of Hong Kong on Sunday morning. Lucky I don’t need a visa to enter Hong Kong. Bummed to miss out on CX F, though.

Are you willing to stay a day in HKG to catch a later flight? If you can research other flights, and find F seats, it might help.

That’s a great call - will look for availability on other USA routes. Have the luxury to take a full day in HKG if it results in better routing.
Regular BA and Qantas flyer, so I don’t have experience with CX J either. But it has to be better than Club World, right
Again, thanks for the advice!

If you acceptd F to J downgrade, would you possibly get cash compensation??
One guy bought this bug ticket, but his F seat was out of order.
He was downgraded to J and CX compensated him 51390 HKD???
I would be more than happy to accept the cash offer...

Wow, that would be incredible compensation!
Very much appreciate all the advice.
Will be 4ish hours until check in opens at HAN and likely no update until landing in HKG at 00:15. Nothing to do but enjoy one last Vietnamese dinner.
