HKG 19 Apr evening
who is here at HKG tonight?
feels semi chaotic with flight delays and cancellations etc because of the sudden storm i gather?
seeing groups of tourist milling around in front of information boards. even in the lounge seeing people standing in fromt of the boards...

thunderstorm causing airport irrops?
update:
so original 815pm flight delayed till 1030pm all boarded. now advised 1.5hr ATC delay..
whats going on? why cant ATC get planes out fast enough?

There was red thunderstorm warning at HKG late this afternoon... No apron activity allowed...
Weather in the pearl river delta region is bad as well....
And all airports nearby are trying to clear up the backlog including CAN, MFM, SZX etc as well.... Really can't blame ATC as it's an extremely traffic heavy time

4pm flight was delayed for about an hour before we pushed back from the gate... another 1.5 hours of waiting on the taxiway before we were able to take off.... the weather actually didn't look too bad while we were sitting on the taxiway... Seems like flights were just taking a very long time for take off... Around 1 flight every 3-4 mins or so for take off... and there were like 20 flights ahead of us...

I think KA661 FOC-HKG was one of the worst flights yesterday. It was originally scheduled to depart FOC at 11:30 and arrive at 13:25. The inbound flight KA660 arrived on time, but weather in HKG delayed its departure from FOC until 13:40. It was then diverted to MFM at around 16:21. Somehow it ended up in SZX later on (how it went from MFM to SZX was not shown in flightradar24.com), departed SZX at 19:44, landed in HKG at 20:23, and finally at gate at around 20:55. What a long day!

multiple bad thunderstorms yesterday. not surprised if apron had multiple red alert for no apron activity. a mate spent over an hour looping around hk + 45-60 mins waiting for a gate
and my mom’s kixhkg was delayed by almost 2 hours+ more wait for a gate. (the last kixhkg might have fun rushing for thr last train too)

The CX 521 that left NRT on Friday April 19 was only a couple of hours late in arriving into HKG.

yup heading to the airport again for my 715pm flight! already rescheduled to 8pm and feels like it will be delayed materially again!
