Thanks for the responses. If the First Class passenger goes back to Business Class to eat, would they still get the First Class meal?

basically, in first class your meals are taken care of by your first class galley purser, also known as ‘OJ’

in business class the cabin is managed by the senior purser who is the OJ’s senior

in Asian workplace culture, you NEVER want to upset or inconvenience your senior. Even when your senior says OK. So please really try to refrain from creating difficulty for the crew

The OP did not use the word purchase and I would be happy to wager that they are using miles.

if inconvincing the crew’s senior is something that concerns you, nothing will ever get done.

i shall let the crew involved to get you rejected for things they cannot do

Not if there are no seats available. As he explained in his opening post.

Open ?

I've read reviews that show that two First Class passengers can dine together, but I was wondering if anyone has experience with the crew letting a Business Class passenger (with the Business Class meal) eat with their companion who's seated in First. This might not be a deal breaker for them, but would still be helpful to know. Thanks!
what is open?

Does Cathay only release seats for sale in blocks ?

Available for sale at full fare vs AS/AA etc.... miles redemption.

Don't want to sound nasty, I think before anyone entertains anymore questions going forward we will need to ask:

1) Redemption booking or revenue booking
2) Asia Miles or Other
If it is Other - we will bin these questions.

they may have been Air Marshalls.
part of the security of the plane
I assume that is why the Captain knew them

What does it matter? The question was about cabin hopping between F and J.

if you are prepared to pay full fare F i am sure CX will kick off other "unworthy" passenger in F cabin for you.

i would be annoyed if cx didnt kick off redemption pax if someone willing to pay full fare F

Well, the F pax can certainly go down to Biz...but not the other way around. People should stay out of cabins above them, but cabins below you are perfectly fine.
