as long as one has an intention to fly and has a long(%) transit immd is not gonna take you to court for going for a shower and some food after getting off a flight that arrives at 5am (or whenever your flight is).

However, dont expect you can be taken care of quickly if you need to get out before 10am during the morning bank of flights.

No comments for other reasons for using the lounge and back out - do at your own risks.

(%)- assuming you spend min 2 hours in lounge (spare more time for getting out in the morning) after arrivals to shower, eat, and wait for staff to walk you out + returning 1 hours before flight + 1.5 hours for the 2-way airport express trip, you’re looking at killing 6 hours before you can do anything in town. YMMV.

This should be allowed for genuine and emergency situations where you a passenger who has already checked in for a flight.
However, to prevent inconsiderate flyers from abusing it simply because they want to use the lounge, exit the airport and return to resume their journey, all pax who leaves the sterile area need to cancel their checkin, collect their bags and pay a fee for this service if they checkin again for the same flight

all they need to do is to restrict all flyers from entering the lounges more than 3 hours from the flight like how amex does it. or to forbid anyone w a flight more than 3 hours away from going airside like CTS.

Q: Is it possible to walk yourself on the departures level to where-ever the elevator is to get back to the arrivals level?

I'm honestly confused as to why this thread still exists. It is extremely clear that "departures" is intended for departing passengers, and there are very clear signs directing people who want to visit HK to "arrivals". What gives?!

It's almost as if plans change, emergencies happen, tickets get changed, airlines close arrival lounges and people need to shower after a 21 hour JFK-YVR-HKG, etc, etc

There are many places to eat food and take showers in Hong Kong, including HKIA, but if you want to avail of departures, you should stay put there until your departing flight. Attempting to hang there upon arrival, and then leave, is simultaneously selfish and cheap.
