TBH I’m not surprised. The cabin crew bases overseas have never made sense to me. Can they really save that much money employing staff in countries which have higher labour costs than HK?

My friend is really upset over this. Apparently this was in the works for quite some time now. This was announced during CNY and it has ruined everything for them. Ed Higgs will be in YYZ this week to talk to the base. It should be an interesting meeting that's for sure. CX does seem to have very poor timing on these things.

I think we will still see a few more...TBH I'm surprised CX is still keeping the SIN Base...I'm guessing the labor cost would be similar to HK

They announced cuts to YVR customer service agents right after new years...although they were given till July 2019 I believe.

I see the North American base shutting down. There was this pension thing not too long ago right? Maybe to avoid getting sued?

Good. I can't be the only one that prefers Asian service to North American service.

many of the outsourced staff is horrendous- in KIX they have gotte from bad to worse. if u have issues with luggage there isnt even a proper office to deal w these things, just a mobile workstation ie a trolley and the communal writing area. at checkin they are clueless staff who doesnt care about what status benefits there is

All the foreign crew bases that CX created were not making sense. I guess CX will axe N. American bases one by one. I reckoned New York base will be in danger as promotion was freezed for years and no more new recuitment.

its interesting to see different voices when BA cut HK base crew....

I am also happy if they use only HK crew, vast difference in service.
