I heard from a friend that using Reap should be a possibility to pay tax with creditcard!

Has anyone tried Reap?

Your payment will be processed as soon as you enter your credit card details, however the government will receive the payment within 2-3 business days.

If you have tax payments to make in Hong Kong, you can add IRD as an HKD Recipient!
  1. Go to your Recipients Page and press "Add new recipients"
  2. Enter the following information
  3. Recipient name: Inland Revenue Department
  4. Recipient email: [email protected]
  5. Recipient phone: 1878088
  6. Recipient type: Other
  7. Bank type: Business
  8. Bank code: INLAND REVENUE DEPARTMENT [991]
  9. Account number: [Enter your unique Shroff Account number on your Tax Demand Note

Geez that's akin to buying coupon at 974 - unless Red works for this (as online), how are you going to earn it back?

You also forgo any tax offers you have e.g. for me this will be almost 1% by HSBC mailer

You think it's that bad?

For e.g. 100k HKD in tax to pay:

2,6% in fees = 2600HKD

and you'll get around 25000Asia Miles with Standard Chartered Asia miles creditcard

As I said I'm new in both HK and to Asia Miles :)

Anway, that mail from HSBC with 1% reward. Could you say the title or that date you recieved it?
I think I get at least 1 mail a day from HSBC :)

Apologies in advance if this has been covered before. I know no/few credit cards offer miles for HK tax payment, but a few are offering cash rebates (eg Citi). Could someone please post link to all cards offering rebates?

Thanks Percy!

Ooops sorry, my request was a link to a summary of all cards offering rebates for tax payment. Is Citi the only one with offer?

Hi Percy,

Your first link took me to a post comparing credit cards for 2019...

The link to mrmiles.hkj/tax only shows 2018-19 card offers. Did the person put one together for 2019-20? I can't find it on the site.

Doesn't look like Mr Miles put a page together summarizing credit card rebates for HK tax payment, but he did share offers from HSBC and Stan Chart. For those interested, click this link

Asia Miles SC foreign transactions bonus

Hi,

Has anyone recently received an incentive on their SC Asia Miles card for foreign transactions? I just recently suscribed again after a 1 year hiatus and I remember these promotions were happening twice a year in 2017. As far as I remember it was something like 1 for 1 after a certain threshold of spend.

Thanks for your insights!

CCB sending offers to selected cardholders of 0.25% ($200 rebate of $80,001), although percentage wise it goes as high as $50 for $3,000.

Good point - I got these in 2017 and 2018 but nothing in 2019.

Red Hot Flash Special – Apple.com 13-31 Dec

https://www.redhotoffers.hsbc.com.hk...ial/apple-com/

Mastercards only, so:

Red $10,000: 400 Basic Rewardcash + 400 Apple Promo RC = 8,000 AM using direct conversion

Premier MC $10,000: 40 Basic RC + 400 Apple Promo RC + 500 Local Spending Promo + 200 Online RC = 11,400 AM

It's a HSBC promo so I'm not going to write (and hope no-one has to ask) how to get round numbers of spending.
