But my only attempt to transfer to a family member with a different surname (albeit not Citi) failed.

Thanks for the info -- I made the transfer (to my wife, who doesn't have the last name as me), so will see if it goes through.

I know of an example for Citi in the last month of a transfer to Asia miles to a completely different named account. Of course it's against the T&C.

Is it possible to add a Octopus to apple wallets in ios13. Just wondering if there was any loophole to earn some points. Thanks

Not yet unfortunately. But how would this be a loophole to earn more points?

In Japan manual Suica top-ups via Apple Pay earn miles when using HK issued credit cards. Maybe OP is speculating that this will be possible in HK for a limited time before they close the gap?

Alipay HK will drop the limit to $2k from October onwards, just like PayMe and WeChat. Popped up a notification in the app today.

I'm liking the new HSBC Red card. HSBC now has a decent line up it seems. For me it's

Visa Sig for dining red-hot rewards choice: 3.6% RC up to $100,000/year

Red for online 4% and supermarkets 2% without limit (presumably the supermarket also compounds with the current (and frequently repeated) $50 coupon for over $500 on Fri-Sun)

Premier Mastercard with perpetual overseas promotion 4.4% (min spend $3000 per quarter)

And then a toss-up between Red and Citi PremierMiles for other local spending.

if I've understood all the deals correctly.

christep : I suggest adding the BEA VS to your collection, they offer 4.4% back for all local spending (including supermarkets) for the first HKD 4.5k of spending.

BTW, did you receive your Red card yet? I've applied last week but I still haven't heard back from them.

Have I understood the HSBC Red online transaction rate correctly? HK$10,000 x 0.04 = 400 R$ = 4,000 miles = HK$2.5/mile?

You are correct. But if you take advantage of the MoneyBack points promotion right now, you could get $2 / AM.

I think your understanding is correct...I am pretty much doing the same thing. For local spending, I suggest either BEA Flyer or Citi Prestige SCB Asiamiles and supermarket you should consider Citi Rewards. I will cancel my CCB Eye and reduce # of credit cards

There is a limit of 10K transfer per year so will be used up by HSBC VS
