Possibly because there is limited supply of HK ones? In my experience, a lot of the meat served in the Far East comes from either Australia, NZ or the US.

I think rightly or wrongly a lot of US passengers also like to see ‘US FDA approved X’, on European flights it typically isn’t US meat. It’s CX being smart about what customers want to an extent.

My guess its caterer's limitations...same way why I found it disappointing that they served HK Style Chicken curry in F and PEY last April from ORD

CX845 JFK-HKG June 2019

A few comments:

- Breakfast wasn't that exciting: the carrot, orange and ginger energizer was okay but not amazing; fruit tasted nice; the take on the Full English was about a 5 out of 10.
- Supper (Which I had turned into lunch) was slightly better. The caviar was Calvisius Venise (Oscietra), which is an entry-level caviar - it missed its "pop" and tasted average. Blinis and sour-cream were not bad, considering. I skipped starters and went straight into the tortellini. They were too rich and creamy for my liking, but edible. The berries and creme fraiche, as well as the blueberry bread and butter pudding were very good.
- I found the Amour de Deutz champagne to be very nice indeed - it is a very light and easy to drink champagne with lots of fine bubbles without turning foamy. I had had the Krug 2004 on the way out and would be hard pressed to choose between the two! I also had two glasses of the Lynch Bages 2008 (Grand Cru), which was very nice indeed. I would not pay full retail price for it, but for an onboard Bordeaux this is not bad at all. Conversely, the Colheita port was good, but nothing to write home about.

All in all, I would give this experience an 8 out of 10 for drinks and 6 out of 10 for food. Soft service was wonderful throughout!

I mean than they serve Deutz Armour in F for the month of June and that this champagne is inferior to the other one in the rotation including Krug NV, this is a personal opinion, but I find several champagnes at half the retail price more pleasant

Actually I've always like the Amour de Duetz Blanc de Blancs. I believe Krug NV is sub-$200, they served 2009 Amour de Duetz Blanc de Blancs which is about $150-170 I think

In HK Krug NV is about US$150 retail. Wholesale, I guess sub-US$100.

Is that for all flights, catered HKG and non-HKG?

I liked the Deutz onboard from a few years ago. Happy to try it again.
