Merry Delay-mas! (CX708 Delay on Christmas)
Happy holidays to everyone! It's a joyous occasion... Except for passengers of CX708 (BKK->HKG) today, it seems. Whilst my OH and I are weren't upset as we decided to make hay and use a paid lounge to shower, eat and refresh ourselves, other passengers appear confused and/or frustrated.
Our flight was original supposed to depart at 17:40, but due to a 'technical issue', departure has been pushed back to 23:00 local time, and we won't get into HKG until a scheduled 02:40. Just out of sheer curiosity... Anyone able to find out what the exact issue was?

Arrived 31 mins late
Then delayed for 6 hours more
Not due to cascading delay
Something was found on the ground in BKK
Other IRROPs in BKK
CX700 cancelled?
CX748 JNB-HKG diverted to BKK?

Thank you percysmith! As helpful as ever. My, that doesn't sound good. Really hope it's nothing major...
Edit: seems like the IRROPS are all for flight bound for HKG. Maybe there's an issue with HKG? (not that my searches have come up with anything...)

Finally boarded - at 23:00. With everyone tired and wanting to head to HKG, boarding was a little chaotic as everyone ignored ground crew instruction for J pax to board first.
Not sure I have B-LAZ anymore, since the captain mentioned our current aircraft had to be flown in from HKG, and the A330 has the new livery.
Can’t wait for a proper bed... 😴

Sorry, today's CX700 cancelled, it was supposed to be operated by the return flight of CX703.
The aircraft (B-LAR) returned as a delayed CX708 instead.

I can indeed confirm it was B-LAR. No mention by the captain on what the issue was with B-LAZ; just a very curt apology by the delay from the crew.
Still, I managed to sleep in my own bed after all. Happy Boxing Day everyone!

I got my Xmas hangover delays
I will be on JAL to TPE by 11am tomorrow and long delay even give me time to head into TPE city for some snacks and bubble tea.
