Thinking about trying Cathay for the first time

Hey Everyone!

Thinking about trying CX for the first time in March..on a trip to Japan (cts) i'm Based in Edinburgh, but fares are obviously better ex eu.

1.Just wondered for a first timer is there anything worth knowing before i book this flight?

2. Do Cathay have many sales?

3. Do the middle seats on the new A390s have the same room as the window seats?

Bcn-hkg-cts looks to be the cheapest just now at around 1850ish. As a baec member the two sectors also return 2x 140 tps (560 rtn) which is another reason using CX. Any tips or advice would be appreciated.

Hi,

A few Points,

I Would check Madrid also as the lounge Cathay uses in Madrid is the Iberia one ( very good) whereas in BCN it is a third party lounge ( Joan Miro IIRC) which is not quite as good.
There should be some sales soon but 1850 rtn is pretty good.
The aircraft is a A350-900 ( A359) not a A390

As BCN-HKG is above 6,000 miles you will get 160 tps on BA EC for rthis leg ( so 600 in total)

Cathay is a very good airline and the lounges in HKG are excellent.

If you haven't booked your flight yet try Expedia, as I found my CX J LHR-HKG-BNE flights cheaper than on the Cathay Pacific website.
You can get the BA TP's a couple days/weeks after your flight, just fill in the BAEC account number when make the booking.

Looks like a xmas fare sale has just been released! Try it and see if there is anything worthwhile for the dates you want.

Hi,

From BCN to Japan in Cathay J it is a pretty good price ( I have seen cheaper prices but with Royal Jordanian and Qatar ( notably from ARN or HEL ) but not necessarily to CTS,

I am seeing fares to tokyo on Cathay from Dublin for c2300 GBP in April
