Flown on a CX B77W (777-300ER) lately? Please post here! 777 Wi-Fi query.
Hello all!
A request to all posters (and lurkers) who have ridden a Cathay 77W (Boeing 777-300ER) lately. Could you be kind enough to remember to come back to this thread after your flight, and let us know 2 things?
They are:
1.) Whether or not WiFi was enabled inside your plane (it's okay if you didn't pay for it, but was it available?)
2.) Departure date and flight number / or plane registration number
Much thanks!
We're trying to keep an accurate record of the 777s with WiFi. A350s are easy...they all have Wi-Fi. But it is proving more difficult than expected to figure out which 777s have Wi-fi working or not, due to the different states of plane conversions. Your help is much appreciated, and will help us keep this sheet accurate. So many readers and posters in this forum fly CX planes every day, if you guys post we should be able to keep a fairly accurate list.
To ensure integrity of information, please only post this information you yourself rode on the plane, you are a CX employee or contractor, or if you have intimate knowledge of Wi-Fi being used on board (aka your girlfriend was texting you from 30k feet, you were handling some business with your husband while he was on his flight, etc.).

the first poster was on B-KPK. The second was on B-HNR. for reg numbers, it's okay if you don't know it, as long as you give us the flight # and date. We can search that easily.
keep them coming!

Was on B-HNR CX826/Dec02 HKG-YYZ. Wifi was still malfunctioning and ISM made a PA apologizing for that.

Any flight without wifi on the above planes should be a temporary problem, they're still equipped. That's the latest info given to cabin crew as of late November.

Flew CX870 on December 2nd on B-KQE. Again, I will confirm two things:
1) KQE is in the new livery.
2) Wifi is enabled, I actually got to curiously test it out, and it worked very well without any connection breaks or dropouts. I found the Wifi card as well once the IFSM announced Wifi was enabled.
On the other hand, I flew CX879 just 2 weeks ago (November 18th, on B-KQX), and that plane is in the old livery, and Wifi was not available on KQX.

thank you all above.
the conversions seem to be happening relatively quickly. 12/52 done, which really means 12/48, once the additional 4 frames are returned to lessor. Aka 25% complete.
Please continue to post your experiences / knowledge here, we will check and update periodically.
