You should also be aware pretty much all plane types visit BKK, not just 77W. And swaps are common.
I agree, my BKK-SIN was booked 3 weeks ahead, and I got 3 swaps, 3rd one was a nasty surprise during check in.... A333 Regional J from a 1-2-1 config to 2-2-2... but it was just a 2 hour flight

If you're asking if there's a specific sub-fleet for the JFK route, the answer is no. It will get all 77H/77A birds cycling through the fleet. Hence, it's 9/32 chance of getting a wi-fi enabled plane to/from JFK. (2/23 77Hs have wifi, and 7/9 77As have wifi). You can find more info here, this link is also posted a number of times above: Cathay Pacific / Cathay Dragon Fleet, Route and Information Guide

But please don't hijack the thread if you have another meaning!

Uh?

Instead of giving your comments any more attention I will just wait to see if anyone who has been on that route post their luck, which is obviously what the original question was.

1/28 CX 749 HKG-JNB, B-HNR, Wifi (Yes), New IFE
2/14 CX 382 ZRH-HKG, B-KQJ, Wifi (No), Old IFE

Is it just me or I find I like handling the Old IFE version better?

Feb 20 CX 829 YYZ HKG wifi.
Did not use due to flightplan showing Polar route and no coverage north of 60 latitude.

I don’t know if it has WiFi but I’m currently sitting on a Cathay 777-300 in BKK and the engines won’t start. This was a flight I was rebooked on from the A350 that also has a mechanical today.

So I don’t really care if it has WiFi LOL.

I had wifi on all 3 flights:

Jan 10 CX 879 SFO HKG
Jan 24 CX 870 HKG SFO
Feb 14 CX 879 SFO HKG

Fingers crossed that I will have wifi again on Feb 28 CX 870.

This is a welcome change (by chance ?) that I am getting wifi. I think I had wifi on only 1 of 18 CX879/870 sectors in 2018.

I was on B-KQS on Sunday on CX870, though it was delayed for 1 hour due to the late arrival of the aircraft from BOM. KQS has the old livery and Wifi, but I did not use Wifi on this plane as for the most part I enjoyed the views and slept. Unlike last trip I was lucky to have a Wifi equipped plane on CX879 on the 15th of February from SFO and got B-KQF.

Most of the 77K have Wifi except for KPY, KPZ, KQB, and KQX.
