I think you meant B-KQU on CX777. KQE is a 77K and is Wifi enabled.

Yes, I must have misread the registration. A check on FR24 confirms that it was QU, and indeed I flew on a plane with the old livery.

Does it follow that all birds that have wifi onboard also have the new IFE and 10 abreast seating? Is the new IFE for economy only or F & J class also gets the new IFE?

Sorry if this info is a repetition of above. Recalling from (very) recent flights:

B-KPA has WiFi and new IFE in First.
B-KQS also has Wifi.

B-KPD and B-KPK have old IFE in F and no WiFi.

Jan 7 CX 829 YYZ HKG. New IFE and wifi advertised in setback card. I tried wifi and go as far as payment screen where I stopped. I wasn't going to pay or use wifi due to no coverage for half of the flight over the North Pole.

CX807, ORD --> HKG, 12/26/18, no WiFi.
CX812, HKG --> BOX, 1/4/19, no WiFi.

(Interesting comment above in # 71. The CX807 flight was the polar route, and I would've been really annoyed to pay for the WiFi, but not be able to use it. I wonder if anyone has had this problem and complained to CX about it? At a minimum they should warn you that you won't have service the full time, and ideally they'd give some prorated discount.)

The Wifi promotion card in the seatback pocket has the cost and coverage map. It is around 60 degrees N where the coverage ends. For ORD YYZ polar routes to HKG that is about 5-6 hours midflight where you are out of the coverage area. This is also the same time that my sleeping plan will have me awake.

@tentseller So the system informed you that you would not have coverage at certain areas, before you paid? That's pretty good in my opinion!

Edit: Just saw your post about it being on the card.
