How accurate is their flight status checker https://www.cathaypacific.com/cx/en_...ht-status.html ? I'll be flying CX830 in a couple weeks and I'm hoping it will have wifi.

An FYI for WiFi YYZ to HKG and vice versa. When you are going the polar route you will not have Wifi for approx 8 hours. My experience is you will have WiFi first 4 Hours and last 4 hours of the flight IF it is the polar route.
On my last flight a person was giving the flight attendant grief about how he paid but there is no WiFi signal. I had to intervene. I also pointed it out to him it clearly states this point on the WiFi card.
Depending if you are paying out of pocket or not it may be only worth it to pay for WiFi on the last half of the flight.

CX807, ORD to HKG, on 10/9/19.
Finally had Wifi! I had checked a few days before on the CX website. It had indicated that the flight details would mention if the flight was equipped, and I did not see any such mention, so I was presently surprised. :-)
It was $19.95 or something like that for the whole flight. Unfortunately, it flew the polar route so maybe half of the flight had no wifi.
A few observations.
1) I did notice (for the first time) that were was a wifi indicator mounted to the bulkhead. It looks like it may have been designed to illuminate, although it did not illuminate during the entire flight.
2) The upload speeds were PAINFULLY slow. See speed test below. This was a problem when I send an email with about 10MB of attachments. It was the first email I sent, and it completely plugged-up the queue.
3) Unfortunately the device will show that wifi is connected -- even if there is no internet. There was no indicator during the flight that internet access was going to drop. And worse... no indicator when it was going to come back online. So it was alot of manual checking to see if it had come back online.

Was so unfortunate to be on 2 777s with no wifi to and from Toronto. First one had old IFE TV, second one had new IFE TV.
So new IFE does not mean wifi. Check Cathay website a few days before the flight to find out if the plane has wifi or not.

It did not bother me due to he timing of the flight and the duration of the flight north of sixty.
