For some reason in my head I think you can do this for one, but not the other. (They use two different service providers)? I could be confusing it with another carrier.

Yea, I'm certain it's possible on the A350. However, I'm not 100% sure you can do it on the 777.

I have a recollection from a recent 777 flight where it wasn't possible. Could be the case I'm just mixing carriers up, but it's worth waiting for the 777 confirmation I think. Fwiw they use two different providers and the service on the 777 is drastically faster (although the A350 is still quite good).

yes definitely on the 777. Thatís what Iím on most of the time (daytime flight SFO-HGK vv).

I do have a Boingo account created with my credit card number saved.

So much easier than having to pull out my credit card each time. (You can pay through PayPal as well)

Unless I'm wrong, a recent photo on flickr of B-KQA gives an indication that it is NOT Wifi-enabled, despite it being reconfigured to a B77K - Just like B-KPY, KPZ, KQB, and KQX - There is no Wifi dome.

KQG has the wifi dome so it could have been turned off.

Other than KPA, all other 77H (9-across 4-class 77W) have no Wifi as of now. This will come once converted to the 10-across

Generally, CX872 gets a 77H, a 9-across 4-class 77W. New IFE would be on 10-across as well as some if not all 9-across.

Some days it is a 77A but no actual guarantee until more 77H are converted to a 77A. The only SFO route to actually have new IFE and Wifi on the 77W is CX870/879 and you have the option of the 359 which has Wifi.

Yea I rode on KQG the other day. WiFi worked perfectly. Must've been an issue with jagmeets flight.

Your odds are decent and improving by the week...CX has been churning out a lot of 77H->77A conversions lately (that's a 9 across to 10 across economy conversion, for the four class 777 variant). When those conversions are happening, they're often coming out with WiFi domes too.

At this stage 13/32 planes eligible to fly that route (4 class 777s) have WiFi , and those odds will be even better by the time you fly. Certainly nothing to bank on, but it's basically just probability. You can probably assume at least 1-2 more birds will be converted by then, and maybe one in the shop. I don't think it's unrealistic to assume almost 50/50 odds for wifi on that route in a month or so.
50/50 is a good old, will report back once I take the flight.
