Well they probably just being cheap and contract expiring with Plaza Premium anyway, with that space they cannot do it without relying on the main plaza premium lounge.

anyone have any inside info? is this a permanent closing or a renovation?

i'm assuming permanent closing....but hoping for otherwise

It's understandable. It's rubbish. Either they are going to build a proper arrivals lounge somewhere else, or its an unjustifiable cost. Is anyone really going to miss it? In all my years of flying through HKG i think i must have been in there about twice.

can we use the plaza premium lounge as an arrivals lounge?

I use it all the time (e.g. most of my CX flights into HKG). I am really going to miss this lounge if they close it permanently.

Its standard is mediocre for a HK lounge, but business people arriving early morning from Europe/US find it very convenient to refresh before appointments in the city.
It is hard to believe that CX won't offer some form of arrival lounge, at least for its premium pax.

There are lovely, clean, and free showers next to arrival gate 22. Never seen anyone use them, but maybe this will change now

If you're expecting a mini Pier/Wing F then sure. But for those who want a shower and a quick bite before starting their day in HK, it works well enough.

It gets crowded at times but it's not somewhere I'd linger around anyway. Just a shower, maybe a cup of tea, then I'm out. I'd much rather have a reasonable, not-too-fancy arrivals lounge that serves its purpose, than none at all.

I called marcopolo and they said it is a permanent close because of the expiry of the tenancy.
