Midnight flight ex-HKG to Europe, skip cheese etc?

Someone brought it to my attention - for midnight flights ex-HKG to Europe, in J class, the trolley is not even wheeled out although cheese is on the menu.

Is that standard practice?

Cheese has always been "available on request" for as long as I can remember.

No it has been for a long long time. Cheese comes with an asterisk on the menu that notes it's on request only.

I thought all supper/midnight/redeye flights feature cheese on request, not just ex-hkg

If ever Cathay decide to deploy a full trolley service on the late-night redeyes, with all the noisy squeaking, clinking cutlery, etc, I shall personally put in a complaint to Cathay and ask that they abandon it in favour of a quieter sleep-friendly approach!
